he wasn't nearly as bad in that game as the rant thinks but it's nice to see him take ownership of it unlike some other QBs we've had here in the past.
THIS. I love the fact that he is discussing watching film and taking over the role. Better QB competition tends to breed better QBs. We have just got to have some patience as a fan base.

Are you serious?
We have fans watching three minute videos of a drill in a two hour practice and from that making a decision as to which QB should be #1 or looks the best.
Anyone who starts will be raked over the coals if he doesn't play well and God help him if we lose.

I really hope he or another QB pulls away from the pack so much that there is no debate on who the starter is.
Like I said yesterday, that's not necessary. Manziel and Winston had to fight for their job through fall practice. All we need is for Cam to feel confident that the one he picks, is the best for the team. Not to be confused with just picking the one who's the best of the bunch, but the one Cam himself feels confident that is good enough to lead this team.

I just hope we finally have a young guy who can occasionally be counted on to actually win a game. People will not have much patience for another JJ/JL type offense.
Lee and JJ were those guys. After JJ got knocked out against Bama in 2010, Lee made the clutch through to Randle to put it away. His RS freshman season, he lead LSU back against Auburn for a win after Hatch got knocked out. Was really the reason we even had a chance to beat Tennessee in 2010, and don't forget the TD to Toliver to beat UF in 2010 either.
When the defense couldn't stop tissue, JJ completed strike after strike to beat Ole Miss in 2010. Was the main reason we beat Bama in the 2011 regular season, drove down the field to get close enough for the game winning FG against Arkansas in 2009. Beat Auburn and Washington in 2010 with 3 TDs a piece and had 4 against TAMU in 2010.
For all the flak those guys got, they won a lot of games between 09-11.

Especially since in my view, the coaches almost set him up to fail. Now, that's not actually a knock on the coaches.
Exactly. They did the same thing to Mett against UF and he looked completely different from his poise in every previous game before. It wasn't how good the defenses were because players were open against Iowa and Florida. I have never seen a team go completely away from what they were doing. Go watch game from last season and tell me the play calling wasn't completely different from any other game they played, even against Bama. I've seen good NFL QBs look bad when their usual gameplan is completely changed, not slightly tweaked, but almost flipped on its head.

This is 2014. Why are we even talking about two guys whose last season at LSU was 2011?
Some refuse to move on!
