If these umpires have this strike zone for our pitchers…. I could easily see Floyd, Hurd, Herring, and Collin’s being dominant in the tournament. Obviously Skenes will dominate regardless who is umpiring… the question with him would be how many Ks he can rack up with this huge strike zone.

It will be interesting to see the strike zone once postseason starts

SEC umpires could definitely explain…. not only LSU pitching struggles but, Dolander and Burns both struggled early on an had to change the way they have pitched from last year.

Maybe the SEC called in a new strike zone to help pitchers not run up outrageous pitch counts
I'm fine with that for this tourney

not only LSU pitching struggles but

Aren’t ERA’s & HR’s up across the board (SEC & OOC)? Honestly some of the LSU games this year the ball had to be a MEATBALL to be called a strike!!

Yes they are.

A lot of people are on the bandwagon… saying the balls are juiced or the bats caught back up… I’m more leaning towards the strike zone has been squeezed a good bit.

Yep. Agreed. I've been looking forward to the postseason for this reason. HOPING we get some umps that have a more reasonable strike zone.

Pretty sure Jeff Head was the home plate ump for game 1

I feel like the umps wear Skenes, called balls, like badges of honor or commendation that will somehow be sewn onto their uniform like ribbon plaques
...even though they clearly force the budding star to throw multiple extra pitches just to record a text book out by Eliminating corners and all but forcing the man to have to throw straight down Broadway to record a strike or get smashed on very rare occasions.

The strike zone not being so tight is most beneficial to Ty Floyd hands down. Skenes is going to shove regardless. This bodes well for Floyd to not get flustered by the Umpire squeezing him.
