Run ruling a top 8 seed, there's no more doubt. We'll be playing at the Box next weekend
I'm still in shock. I expected a 10 run rule yesterday, but not with us on the winning end.

So what do you think about this HTT10. Who can we pass?
IF we beat Vandy today our RPI would be about 12 and our SOS would be about 3 with 22 Q1 wins. Let’s compare that to the teams between us and the 7/8 seed
Louisville - RPI 9, SOS 30, Q1 wins 19 (projected 7 seed)
Texas Tech - RPI 10, SOS 15, Q1 wins 15 (projected 8 seed)
Oklahoma State - RPI 6, SOS 3, Q1 wins 12 (projected 9 seed)
East Carolina - RPI 5, SOS 24, Q1 wins 12 (projected 10 seed)
Oregon State - RPI 14, SOS 17, Q1 Wins 16 (projected 11 seed)
Stanford - RPI 12, SOS 63, Q1 wins 8 (projected 12 seed)
WVU - RPI 11, SOS 28, Q1 wins 8
(projected 13 seed)
Overall, I think if we beat vandy we would pass WVU, Stanford, and maybe Oregon State. Definitely something to play for today

Oregon State won last night?

No idea let me check

They won 5-2 but it didn’t really do anything for them

This is a total guessing game with the committee. Who knows what goes into it, and how much they move around seeds based on super regional match ups. I know they aren't supposed to, and they say they don't, but I bet they do. They will probably strategically place SEC teams so they don't end up with 6 of them in the CWS.
Also, depends on which categories they put the most weight into. If it's Quad 1 wins and SOS, we should be 9-12. If it's RPI and overall record, 14-16. My guess is we go in at 13-14.

Even if we beat vandy today and our RPI jumps to like 12?

Would it jump that high? Are you trying to figure out a way a national seed is possible?

Nah. Just not having to match one of the top 5

The baseball selection committee has never revealed their guidelines for selecting host teams to my knowledge.
I know they've commented in years past about why they selected a team and not someone else but often those remarks conflict 180 degrees with their stated reasons from previous years.
"We heavily considered RPI."
"We looked mainly at SOS."
"We considered their entire body or work."
"We mostly considered their record in their last 20 games to see which teams were the best NOW."
We've heard all of those reasons from years past.
I'm convinced the committee relies heavily on personal bias for conferences, geographic areas and certain teams as much as they rely upon the actual strength of teams.

It can certainly happen. It could also certainly not happen. Depends which side of the bed the committee wakes up on. I bet we are matched with an SEC team though, just to keep one out of Omaha.
