Miles has a fetish for a horizontal offense. Its better then the option IMO. You get the ball to the edge quicker and you have good blockers like Landry that can spring big gains. The problem with jj and JL is for whatever reason they were horrible throwing the screen. Jj routinely got shep killed. Mett is much better at it. I saw some great gains last Saturday from it. It also kept the pass rush down to make him more comfortable. We will see what happens, it doesn't bother me though.

50/50 play calling is fricking stupid. I would almost guarantee that the closer a team gets to that, the worse they are.

UMMM I think Florida in the mid nineties was very close!!! Last time I checked they beat most teams by 30+

What about 50/50?

70/30 run/pass makes you one dimensional

Not at all, really. It all depends when you throw. You run the ball until someone shows that they can stop you. If you find yourself running against an opponent that can stop the run, then you can use the passing game to open the running lanes back up (i.e. draw plays, etc.).

I say we have about 58/42 run to pass ration this year. I'll take 10% more pass

We threw deep to Devery Henderson and I don't think we ever ran Michael Clayton bubble screens or line passes.

All 3 receivers ran bubble screens, and lots of them. Devery was the deep threat, but must of his catches were screens. Clayton ran slanted and digs. That offense did not stretch the field much. It was very similar to what we saw last Sat.

Yeah cause 13-1 last year and 508 yards so far this season calls for drastic changes. Just stop it.

LSU could have won 8 or 9 games (maybe more) last year without throwing a single pass. It's not about balance. It is about what wins you games.

Hell, that team pretty much went into "run out the clock" mode after halftime in every game except Oregon, Bama, Arkansas, and Georgia

Mid nineties. Defenses in the SEC have caught up. You see how those type teams work against an LSU now. Oregon ring a bell?

Seems I remember the '07 Championship team running a lot then hitting the defense with big pass plays out of nowhere. But Matt Flynn had the skills to do that plus the receivers.
