re: LSU may decrease amount of student tickets

LSU has been settin this up for 2 years now. When they changed to student ticket transfer policy 2 years ago, it made it impossible to just give away a ticket to another student. So the attendance numbers reflected that fewer students attended b/c of LSU's own tranfer policy making it difficult for students to get tickets from other students. So before last season, LSU took about about 400 student seats. They also made upgrades more difficult, so as to decrease student section attendance. They did change the tranfer policy back before this season, but after they had their numbers to prove decrease in attendance.
Now LSU wants to take 3000 MORE seats. Completely ridiculous. Aleva's excuse of "if they would sit in a seat instead of stand they'd have more room" is also ridiculous. Yeah, lets get the rowdiest, loudest student section in CFB to sit the entire game. Its ALL about money and they make more money on non students. This has been in the works for a few years now.

Uhh...you can do this now. ANY student can go to the games provided they are a full-time student with an ID and have a vaild ticket (name does not have to match).

You ended up in the aisle for Tulane and North Texas?

quote:NO shite. Read my post. I said 2 years ago they had that policy but changed it back before this season. Can you read? 2 years ago you COULD NOT, just walk in stadium w/ any student ticket and ID. Your ticket had YOUR name on it and you had to have YOUR ID. If you didn't go, you HAD to exchange your ticket via marketplace and new student would get ticket printed out with HIS name on it.

Jesus Christ, no they didn't. You frickers couldn't fill the fricking SS for UGA or Alabama so I don't want to hear any whining now.

Chill the frick out. And LSU took away ZERO seats to students this year.

Even thinking that removing tickets from students is a good idea disgust me.
Like it or not, students are the heart and soul of Tiger Stadium on Saturdays. Every time the team seeks support they look to the student section.
Anyone notice that almost all the Geaux-Tigers cheers begin in the student section?
Does any other section stand the whole game?
LSU students ,if anything, deserve more seating space for big games. I understand offering excess tickets from the smaller games, I.e. Troy or Tulame, to families that don't hold season tickets. But it is a disgrace to consider taking seating space from the students for the big games.
Unlike many other sections, I.e. Greeks & TAF members, the student section is always there early or on time. Often the section is filled more than a hour before kickoff.
The students are the heart and soul of the stadium.
If Alleva calls for our tickets, we'll call for his job.- and that's a promise.

First off, the students deserve MORE seats for big games? You've got to be fricking kidding me. Again, I reiterate, Y'ALL DIDN'T EVEN FILL WHAT YOU HAVE NOW FOR ALABAMA AND UGA.
Secondly, while y'all may be some of the first to arrive you are ALWAYS some of the first to leave chief.

Hate to break it to you "one pissed off student" but those rich alumni and suite people paid for the current success this football program is having. Things like the new upper deck and football complex that all of our recruits are blown away by aren't funded by student donations or tuition my man.
One big problem is, rich alumni (which most of these students hope to be someday) that were not able to attend may games during their college years, may be less likely to open their wallets in th future. I'm not saying all, but some. There are many sports played at LSU that wouldn't have many fans there if not for the students. Football would still get spectators but the passion from an 18-25 year old vs the 70 year old that sits on his hands just isn't the same. (No offense to 70 year olds intended)

So the only passionate fans are the students? You seriously want me to believe that? Again, if I could type it a better way for you to understand I would. IF YOU WANTED TO GO TO A GAME THIS YEAR YOU COULD HAVE AND THE frickING SS STILL WASN'T FULL FOR THE TWO BIGGEST GAMES THIS YEAR.

colorado, you need to start scanning tickets as they LEAVE the stadium for the points to get bowl tickets
anything before 5 min left in the 4th quarter = not counted

so if there's 3,000 extra tickets or whatever he's trying to say, why not give those to the students who weren't chosen for tickets.
also, to my understanding the frosh were screwed over this year and were only given tickets to 4 games instead of 8.
i call bullshite on Bama. i was in there an hour and a half before kickoff and still had to sit on the stairs, along with many many others.
nah. that title goes to the east/west decks.

You can call bullshite all you want but I sit in the EU and the section under the scoreboard NEVER filled in.

I don't know which UGA and BAMA game LSUdm went to because the section I was in was so packed you couldn't move.

I'm not doubting that but there were a ton of empties all along the upper wall all season.

They didn't have enough tickets for all the requests earlier this year, so they sold packages of 4 instead of 8. Now they want to decrease the number of seats? That is absurd. Are they only going to sell 4 game packages next year to everyone?
What about the rest of the fans that don't show up, sell their tickets to opposing fans or leave at halftime? LSU is already middle of the pack in the SEC for the size of the SS and we're consistently known as being in the top 3 for loudness. The SS helps motivate and carry the team. Go ask Glenn Dorsey what he thinks about reducing the SS.
Here's the comparison for anyone curious:
1) Florida (24% of capacity is student section)
2) Georgia (19% of capacity is student section)
3) Mississippi State (18% of capacity is student section)
4) Auburn (17% of capacity is student section)
5) Alabama (16% of capacity is student section)
6) LSU (15% of capacity is student section)
7) Kentucky (15% of capacity is student section)
8) Vanderbilt (15% of capacity is student section)
9) Arkansas (14% of capacity is student section)
10) Tennessee (13% of capacity is student section)
11) South Carolina (12% of capacity is student section)
12) Ole Miss (12% of capacity is student section)
So after doing the math and multiplying those precentages by the stadium capacities, here are the approximate sizes of the student sections:
1) Florida (21,252)
2) Georgia (17,622)
3) Auburn (14,867)
4) Alabama (14,742)
5) LSU (13,860)
6) Tennessee (13,265)
7) Kentucky (10,141)
8) Arkansas (10,080)
9) Mississippi State (9,915)
10) South Carolina (9,630)
11) Ole Miss (7,270)
12) Vanderbilt (5,969)
