No. I understand, and I agree. I was just trying to point out that the ability to create turnovers (which we did not have last season) is a good thing and it will eventually pay off (i.e., turnovers will eventually happen, and more often, at times that give LSU good field position).

I'm just pointing out positives (more for myself than anyone else in particular).

LOL, Oh ok, I totally agree and basically what I was trying to say as well.

I understand that everything that happens on the field is a result of all the hard work and preparation you do off of the field.

So a bad handoff by the opposing team is a result of the hard work that LSU did off the field?

So All I'm saying is you can't just look at Points off turnovers, Football is about field position.

Absolutely wrong! If you get a turnover in your own territory you in effect swing 3 points in your favor. If a team is at the goal line like ULL was, then it is an almost guaranteed 3 points. You take 3 points away from them.

Field position is some mythical creature that commentators created to make them sound smart. But in reality if you can't score you can't win. If you turn the ball over to the other team when you are driving you can't score. It's that simple.

Turnovers and points off turnovers can usually tell you all you need to know about a game. MSU lost last week b/c of it and LSU lost a lot of games last year because of it (Bama & UGA - IMO)

1) I dont consider it a gift. Its my opinion and trying to discredit it doesnt change:

2) that thats not even the point of this convo as its been pointed out that lsu hasnt even had any gifts.

eta: If lsu doesnt line up on the other side, there is no fumble.

i never knew that field position was a mythical creature??? i believe that field position is important. if you are backed up to your goal line, you can't tell me that the playbook is wide open? one would not want to risk the opportunity of a turnover. I do agree with you in saying that turnover margin is crucial. it gives you more opportunities to score. i do not know where you learned mythology, probably riding the bench as a JV QB or something

So im a douche for having a differing opinion?
awesome.

I swear, the rant is so closed minded that if you state an opinion on here people will try to tell you that you are wrong as if it is a fact and then follow it up with insults.

Oh yea, my sig used to say that everything i say is to be treated as IMO unless otherwise stated. Forgot I changed it.

But at least I didnt insult you like when you took a jab at me with a comment that really had nothing to do with the convo.

given the fact that every team gets some gifts over the course of a season, I would say they are basically a wash and largely statistically insignificant.

Did I insult you? No.

So are you telling me that there have never been any gifts ever in football. Did the defense use fricking psychic powers to knock the ball out?

Ok I can agree completely with this. But four games into the season we have been given a few and have given none. So you have to look at that atleast a little right now.

No when you say things like, "Everything that happens is a result of what you do off the field"

then someone points out that some things are out of your control (botched snap)

Then you say "No it is in our control, because we had to take the field' if we did not, that fumble doesnt happen"

THAT is you being a douche.

No, because like I said, there are no gifts. When you are playing a better team, a more physical team, you get tired, lose mental edge and focus, etc throughout the game. This leads to mistakes you normally wouldnt have against an inferior opponent.

Idk how you can disagree with that. Even if its at the beginning of the game, if you are the better team and have the mental edge, you can force your opponent to make mistakes, through nerves, etc.

Because what I said is true? Because you still force your opponent to make mistakes even if it is a bit indirectly by wearing them down and forcing them to lose their edge and making them more prone to mistakes?

And you still have to be in position to recover the ball, to fight off opponents to get to it. its not like just because there is a fumble, it is automatically your ball.
