I want Smart just to take him away from Bama.

Smart's agent most likely disclosed this information to get more money from Bama. That is how/why these are leaked.

Assistant coaches get physically and mentally drained from working with Saban. It is great to work with him for a few years, get the experience, then get the hell out. It would not be a shock at all to see Smart make a lateral move.

Don't know much about him, but

2008: Cleveland Browns (Defensive coordinator)
2009–2011: Jacksonville Jaguars (Defensive coordinator)
2012: Jacksonville Jaguars (Assistant head coach) (Defensive coordinator)
2013–Present: Chicago Bears (Defensive coordinator)

Not the most convincing NFL track record

Meh, the architect is Saban. Why hire the site manager?

Les is going to screw around and get the defensive coaches a damn raise. LSU will get stuck with whoever is left. Get off the pot Lesticles!!

Muschamp worked out very well as a solo DC after being Saban's "site manager."

don't think it would be about money, it would be about proving he can put out a great defense without Saban looking over his shoulder.

Being reported that Smart isn't getting the kind of "interest" he fells he should.

He seems McClain and Muschamp got a lot of interest once they left the Saban nest.

He wants to prove he can coach without Nick...but Nick gets all the credit

So with that, I think we just might have a shot

the only reason i could see it is if he was given a head coach in waiting type deal
