one factor to consider is the fact that Saban only signed 5 o-linemen in his last 2 classes combined. And Miles first class was a small class.

Crowton wanted us to recruit smaller, faster OL for his system so we did. It failed

Wiliford, lonergan, hurst, Faulk, and some others who transferred all came here when crowton was OC.

The separate issue? Insistence on trying to make Josh D a LT and failing to address our greatest glaring weakness by making adjustments will hamper our offense, disrupt our passing game, possibly injure our QB, and cost us 2-3 games.

Main issue and original use of cluster was not regarding that, however, but was in reply to previous poster saying our unproductivity and lack of OL in the NFL was due to Crowton when in reality Les and Stud are the primary causes.

But again, I trust the coaches and look forward to giving Towson a thorough thrashing on Saturday.

Just because someone didn't go to the nfl doesn't mean they weren't productive

Sorry, but I just don't believe Crowton was the driving force behind our OL recuitment and development rather than Stud and Les.

Another factor...I believe it was the recruiting class of 2006? where we signed 6 OL, none of whom ever played a down for LSU.

I'm not honest, but you're pretty knowledgeable.

I'm referencing the fact that there is no OL playing in the NFL that played under Les with the exception of the unexceptional Barksdale...who is with the Raiders?

I wonder what that says? Is Miles a crappy coach because he has not produced pro offensive linemen? Is Miles a great coach because he has produced 64 wins since '05 (not counting this year), 2 SEC Championships, 1 BCS Championship, 3 Top 3 rankings with a bunch of average offensive linemen.

it's likely much more a factor of how much OL is a veteren position in the NFL. It's not like there's a ton of open spots every year. We don't have any kickers in the NFL, is that a failure on someone's part.

Bama's all-world line has given up more sacks than LSU this year so far...

For everyone mentioning Barksdale he got cut by the Raiders a couple days ago. Also if Chris Faulk didn't get injured this stat wouldn't have popped up here and on tigerbait today.

again though, you can't discount that the 03, 04 and 05 classes, which were all basically Saban's work (miles got here a month before signing day), we only signed 7 linemen total.

Yeah, but none of that's important. I wanna see us throw for 275 a game...then, and only then will he be a good coach. Wins aren't really that important.

Would be interesting to go back and look up those OL in those classes and see how many of them played significantly in the NFL.

And I don't hate the coaches. I just don't trust them to make good decisions and have good judgment all the time. That's all.

I love how it takes just one bad game (last week vs. Auburn) and all of the sudden the LSU O-line has been awful since the day Miles was hired.

Sorry, but the left side of the line was getting outplayed way before Auburn.
