And his name is Jarrett Lee. Let's show some support. Good game.

Didn't we hear that same saying 4 years ago after an Auburn game?

Lee beat the #3 ranked team in the country tonight. He'll do. Probability of improving is about 100%. Shakin' off the rust.

10 for 22 for 98 yards and a TD.

That was tonight.

Had JJ put up that stat line after struggling so badly over the past two years, there would be calls for both he and Miles' head despite having hammered Oregon.

That's just the truth.

Get off Lee's back. He was a Frshman and he was in the game during all the clutch situations last season. He can use some work, but when your recievers drop 6 passes in the first half it doesn't help you out. Congrats Lee, after all the harassment he got his Freshman year, he deserves that much more respect for persevering through what we the fans put him through.

Thats so inaccurate. If JJ played exactly as Lee tonight, people would defend him given the circumstances. Lee's throws were not off target.. JJ's for the most part are atrocious. He did have a TREMENDOUS bowl game, but people forget just how awful the offense struggled with JJ. So many 3 and outs. So many sacks, fumbles. Dude threw more INTs than TDS.. So you are WAY WRONG BRO.

Lee didn't once turn the ball over, his throws were accurate. He didn't get much opportunity to pass and handle himself yet well all things considered. No ints, no turnovers except that hike while he was adjusting the protection.

I'm sorry...but we have 2 years worth of evidence of fans doing just the opposite to prove this assertion wrong.

Some most certainly were.

Some are...some aren't.

No...I'm pretty sure we all remember that.

I think it's intellectually dishonest to try and compare last year's stats with a worse OL, different OC and clearly a different scheme to what Lee had to work with tonight. Not once did Lee have to beg the sidelines for a play to be sent in...simple, simple, simple. I would certainly like to see JJ under center in this new set up to be able to compare apples to apples.

Not all of them, no.

Let's take the snap turnover. Are you going to tell me that JJ would not have been labeled the problem in that instance after the past two years if he had been the QB there? Really? Hell...the kid was blamed by most for the debacle at the end of the TENN game last year despite clearly not having been given two plays to run if he didn't get in on the keeper and then standing there desperately begging them to send in a play. For many, JJ was to blame.

For me...Lee will be as serviceable as I expected JJ to be this season. LSU will win a ton of games this year despite mediocre play, and I was expecting that whoever was under center.

Don't say anything remotely un-positive about Lee, you'll automatically be branded a moron.

True and I thought of that but tried to get away with it any ways.

True as well. I must admit.

he had 3 drops in the 1st quarter alone that would have netted 60 yards at least. Maybe more. Im watching the replay as we speak

Everyone needs to watch the replay. The drops you keep mentioning are poorly thrown balls, and to call anything that a receiver touches and doesnt catch a drop shows you are not being honest with yourself.

Just to be clear...are players judged on their actual stat line, or the one they should have had if all things bounced their way?

With all due respect, attempting to add up drops and the accompanying yardage and tacking it on to a QB's stat line to try and bolster the stats is silly, and it misses the very real fact that after each completed pass the rest of the game may very well ahve unfolded differently.

Take missed FG's for instance. Think the LSU-OSU game from 2004 when their kicker missed like 5 FG's...and after the game you had idiots adding up those missed scores and suggesting that If ONLY he had hit on those then they'd have won. Ok...but after a made FG, what happens? A kick off...where the other team may very well run it back for a score. Missed opportunities do not happen in a vacuum.

Lee got almost no help from his receivers tonight...granted. But his line is what it is...there's no adding potential numbers to it based on wishful thinking.

None of them are poor throws

one is slightly high, the one to Beckham, where he mis-timed his jump

Clement dropped Lee's best ball of the night.

And Boone dropped another easy one.

Yea, thats not even close to being the same

How are you going to get on a QB that throws a catchable ball, but is dropped?

It takes 2 players to complete a pass

it takes 1 kicker to miss a kick, who burdens sole responsibility for the said miss.

its just not the same

you dont have to tack on the yardage, i dont really care. But if you cant acknowledge he played better than his stats, then you are just being ignorant.

So long as you don't include the long snapper and holder, right...just one.

Which is, um...kind of my point. We've heard this same type of ignorant assessment based ENTIRELY on JJ's stat line for two years now regardless of the outcome of the game, and not once do I recall anyone bothering to go back and rewatch a game to try and bolster the perception of his individual play.

For me...Lee was fine. Vanilla. He did enough to win and didn't hurt the Tigers. I want LSU to have more points when time runs out...I don't really care HOW they do it, and I don't really care about the stats.

I just found it a bit ironic, though extremely predictable, that the same folks that have date raped JJ with his stat line for two years were suddenly willing to completely toss it out (or attempt to amend it after the fact) when it came to Lee.
