I got a quick question which I probably already know the answer too, but are you able to pick up the LSU games through local channels using a TV antenna? Or does the SECNetwork have sole rights to broadcast? We tried to set up something with Direct TV but they were gonna charge us $400 to cancel the plan in November, so we were hoping to be able to use the antenna to pick up a day game and then the LSU game at night for our tailgate.

The only LSU games you would be able to catch with an antenna is CBS broadcasted ones. All the other games will be on some version of an ESPN cable channel, and not OTA(Over The Air)

Have you called dish about there tailgater thing. Looks awesome. I don't have one so others can answer but I think you can turn the contract on and off for the months you need it. The tailgater is also cool because it aims itself. If you have ever tried to aim a directv dish, you know it's not the easiest thing to do.

All you can pick up with hd antenna is local broadcast games on CBS, NBC, etc.

Dish has the Tailgator. Its high initial investment but there is not a contract, turn it on and off as you see fit. Very simple to operate too. Charged by the month. If someone has Dish already you can get it for 7 a month otherwise its about 59 a month. Bought one for my deer camp. Saw a bunch of these at the tailgates last weekend for Sam Houston Game. Folks I talked to loved it.

Any idea on what we would be looking at for the high initial investment? And we would need to find someone with a pre-existing dish contract?

It's about $400 for the dish and the receiver. I usually activate it on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning and deactivate it Saturday night or Sunday morning. Last weekend added 22 cents to my bill.

That's pretty sweet. My buddy got a hold of a satellite and I have another buddy who has an active Cox receiver box. Would we be able to make this work at the tailgate or since Cox is cable will it be a no go?

Cox & Direct TV & Dish are different service providers. You are basically trying to play Xbox with a nes controller

I kind of figured. Are satellite dishes unique to each company and will only work with that company's receiver?

Also, another question regarding tailgating. What's the tailgating scene like on the old front nine? Is this almost solely parking now or do plenty of people set up tailgates there?
