I don't think being critical of the team and turning against them is the same thing. Yes, some on this site are embarrassing to the LSU fan base, with their "the sky is falling attitude" but many are just pointing our areas where we would like to see improvement.
We were sold on championship football over the past few years and that's what we expect to see. If we lose three or four games we have a right to be disappointed, but I will still fully support the Tigers. However, I do agree that calling Miles, Chavis, or players out and attacking them personally is ridiculous.
What he said.
Unfortunately, most posters the past several days have fallen into two extreme categories. The first one consists of ridiculous, immature people who start threads calling for new coaches, complaining that Miles knows nothing about football, etc. The second group is composed of true believing kool-aid drinkers who feel that it is sac-religious and treason to point out how, for example, some of our players did not play well or missed tackles, etc. If you offer criticism, you are unpatriotic and a traitor, not a real fan, etc.
Its as if the boards are dominated by loons and nazis. People need to think about their posts (funny, I know) while they are writing them. We need to be able to discuss the coaches, players, and everything else LSU football with a degree of candor and realism. Criticism is fine and necessary. Still, enough with the ridiculous brimstone falling from the sky. Stay away from the extremes. If you want to offer criticisms, make them sensible ones. And if someone does so, respond to it without accusing the poster of witchcraft.

Dude, if you have to justify that you're an a-hole because...
quote:
teams across the country do the same to their teams
quote:
as long as I'm sending money to the school and TAF, I can (believe it or not) say whatever the fuk I want about the Tigers
...then you're a shitty fan, and you're most definitely part of the problem.

Your not goin to make me feel guilty so save it for someone else!!!
Assholes like you never do. We don't expect you to change, we just wish you'd go away.

Some of you are acting like this is a problem only with LSU fans.....teams across the country do the same to their teams every week and it doesnt seem to affect their recruiting. This is nothing new. Yes, I was very disappointed with the performance Sat. night but having had time to reflect now feel a bit differently. Because of the passion surrounding LSU football, people often resort to kneejerk comments and assinine logic...dosn't mean anyone is jumping ship....come back to planet earth folks....and by the way, as long as I'm sending money to the school and TAF, I can (believe it or not) say whatever the fuk I want about the Tigers on on any chicken shite forum that I please. Your not goin to make me feel guilty so save it for someone else!!!
That said....Geaux Tigahs!!!

Yeah, ya'll are the only ones with expectations. It's only the shitty, whiny message board fans that got LSU to the level that we're at now. Thank God for ya'll.

I would bet that if you took a poll of the average age of the posters on this board you would find that most are between the age of 18 and 23. Of that most are students. Of that group MOST NEVER played the game of football. Hence the stupid posts that blame coaches and point out the short comings of players who are the athletes they never were or ever will be. All this after the FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON!!
GROW UP!!!

it's one thing to vent on a message board, as opposed to picketing outside tiger stadium calling the players out.
lot of coaches "settle" into a job, especially after a NC, you gotta keep nudging them.

I agree
les miles gets paid 4 million a year to field a competitive team that will vie for SEC championships and National titles.

every one from every school complains. just the way it is. college football changed from a feel good hobby to a business.
and with business you expect some sort of return. i'm not gonna pay for a bad movie, ......
Miles made 2 super mistakes last year: banking on RP with no backups and the dual DC hire.. he's gotta show something to get it back straight.

Combine the reaction to the Washington game with leaving early from games last year (the Troy game), and a distinct impression is being given that LSU fans are turning against their own team
I would have left the Troy game early as well. THAT WAS AN EMBARESSMENT!! I don't care that they won.
quote:
If anyone thinks that all of this negativity isn't having an effect, you are stupid. It is spreading like a virus
To whom is it spreading to????? If it is the team , then Miles needs to fix it. HOWEVER. LSU fans are THE MOST SPOILED fans in college football. They always bitch about NOT getting enough attention and grip about other schools that do. The Jealousey about USC and ESPN is very disturbing.

Do we have real fans who can objectively see some mistakes and then hope for a better showing while cheering for LSU
I am one!!!

Yep ... our former coach spoke of it often. Probably one of the few things he disliked about coaching at LSU.

Uh huh...and that's how you voice your disapproval. LSU doesn't respond to internet douche bags....not saying you are. LSU responds when fans stop sending money to the TAF, stop buying merch, stop paying for tickets and going to games.
Sending in your money, and then saying you can be as big an a-hole as you wanna be does nothing. Except make you a douche bag. I'm saying "you" as the "everyman" not calling you out.

It's kinda funny how if someone points out a weakness, they are all of a sudden a Bandwagoner, Imposter, Negatiger, etc. I live in Atlanta and I'm a die hard FANATIC!
That said, me personally, I'm indifferent on CLM. I could live with him coaching here until he retires but if he left and another good coach followed, so be it. I think some people are a little worried about the 1st game performance because of fear that the team will continue to play defense at the same level that they displayed @ WASH.
All of 2007 we were constantly told that the team would come out and play better and cut down on penalties. Game after game they came out and racked up tons of penalties. Kinda like last year when CLM always spoke as if the Defense would get better and it NEVER did. So after that, some tend not to feel at ease by him simply saying " there is a want to play better".
Please stop acting as if our fans are the only ones that are a little delusional or overreact at times. UGA's defense looked amazing against OK. St. Saturday, but, just last season they were all calling for Martinezs' head after the way their D played. Their D was MUCH better than ours.
I think if you look around the college landscape, you see amazing D's and wonder, "Why doesn't our D look amazing like that"? Hell, Jacory Harris played Monday night for the 'Canes and looked amazing! Jefferson is every bit as good as that kid except he is handcuffed MUCH more.
I don't question Miles' ability to bring talent here. I think he has recruited every bit as well as Saban. I do question whether the talent is being developed or utilized to the best of their ability. Holliday is a track star playing f-ball. Demps and Raines may not be faster but they are alot better f-ball players. We should either use him as UF does or just let this kid run track. We suffer too many WASTED plays in an attempt to use him.
I know I went kinda off topic but it irritates me to no end when I constantly read how if you criticize the staff or players that you are not a REAL fan. If we ever become complacent and start accepting sub-level results, that is what we will get.

are some fans truely unaware of the less than average tackling, blocking and coaching that we witnessed in SEATTLE, we are still TIGER FANS

I have repeatedly requested that some of these post by the same few people over and over get deleted so the rest of the world wouldn't view us as morons. And I am not talking about some of the criticisms that are legitimate. I don't like naming players and being overly critical or flat out stupid. It would help if the rest of the board wouldn't respond to some of this stupid stuff.

Unfortunately it is always the dumbasses that call into radio shows and make their voices be heard so that is what people see. It sucks but what are you going to do about it?
