In Blake Baker’s defense the SAM becomes a STAR (a hybrid with “S” for SAM and 5-points for Nickel), which may be manned by a LB (SAM), a corner (Nickel Corner), or a Safety (Buffalo Nickel). Usually, LSU will be using Major Burns as a Buffalo Nickel at the STAR position.

In passing situations I’d guess we see that. They are both great pass rushers, so the coaches can have a lot of options.

What do you think JK Johnson, Zy Alexander and Ashton Stamps are? Those are SEC starter caliber corners. They are not Mo Claiborne, Tyrann Mathieu and Patrick Peterson caliber, but that’s a whole different level that we’d like to get back to.
