There are 133 teams:

97th - Scoring Defense – 28.9 PPG
109th - Total Defense – 415.9 YPG
115th – Yards Per Play Allowed – 6.23 YPP
100th – Pass Defense – 243.8 YPG
96th – Yards Per Pass Attempt Allowed - 7.8 YPA
104th - Rush Defense – 172.1 YPG
113th - Yards Per Rush Allowed – 4.83 YPA
116th - Opponent 3rd Down Conversion % - 44.96%
124th – Opponent 10+ Yard Plays from Scrimmage - 157
105th - Opponent 20+ Yard Plays from Scrimmage – 51
128th – Opponent Red Zone Score % - 94.4%
123rd – Opponent Red Zone TD % - 75%
98th – TFL/Game – 5.1
93rd – Turnovers Gained – 12

This is objectively the worst defense in modern program history (as far as stats go back at least). Absolutely inexcusable. There is no strength anywhere on the defense.

Teams are scoring a touchdown 75% of the time they see the red zone. Amazing how bad that is.

Hoping the media would alert Kelly how bad this defense is.

all we hear is tackling and freshman.

nothing about scheme is mentioned. what about putting pressure on the QB?

The opponent doesn't get touched until 5 yards down the field on running pays half the time. That isn't tackling and we don't have freshman on the interior DL or at LB.

You really think Kelly doesn't know how bad this defense is? The guy has to go for it on 4th down damn near every time because the defense sucks so bad.

Well and because he has a white tail deer with an arm at QB.

I strongly disagree with this.

100 other programs would kill to have our front 7, especially Mingo, Jefferson, Smith, and Perkins.

There is no doubt in my mind that at least 75 other defensive staffs in the FBS could take this same talent and come up with a scheme that would have them anywhere between 50-75 in all the categories above.

We would be a 1 loss team if it weren't for Matt House. The fact that this retard is still here pisses me off.

I never said there were no talented players. As a unit, there is no strength on this defense in terms of how they are performing this season. There is no positive meaningful statistic.

You know we blitzed one time on third down in the second half, and Florida tried to throw deep and the receiver had to make a diving catch and it got overturned on review.

It’s amazing what happens when you force the offense to complete a low percentage pass instead of just rushing 4 (who never get home) and dropping 7 way back and allowing easy pitch and catches over the middle of the field.

I went and checked as far back as I could. Unprecedented.

2020 we had a TERRIBLE defense, but were 51st in Red Zone %, 6th in turnovers gained, 56th in TFL/G, 37th in 3rd Down Conversion %, etc.

Oh forgot 3rd down % in the OP. We're 116th in 2023.

We/He is fortunate that Daniels, Nabers, Thomas came in at the appropriate time.

Anyone know how Daniels came to LSU.
Who was alerted/recruited him?

Yet, based on what Kelly said in his press conference today, it appears that House may be retained under the excuse that we have "young" players.

He’s not going to say it to the media, but he knows man. His 3 previous DCs were all home runs who got promotions and head coaching gigs. Last year was acceptable, but nothing about this is.

Grambling only moved the ball for the 1st quarter. We didn’t give up much at all to State either. Auburn performed above their averages, but it wasn’t terrible.

That’s how bad it’s been against any offense with a pulse. They all light this defense on fire.

I thought Pelini set the standard. Apparently not.
