I wish the 2019 thing would die. So frustrating. That defense was elite.

They were elite when it counted, but like the OL, they absolutely were NOT elite all season. Injuries, guys playing hurt and Aranda having to adjust to a new offense were all legitimate factors, but they struggled for over 1/2 of the season.

Again, like the OL, they definitely were elite when we needed them to be late in the season.

You do realize LSU is a one gap defense? That’s means in run fit there’s no such thing as opening a gap lol. The fact that you basically stated that the DT is making another gap and forcing the lb to choose is not a good thing. In a gap defense means there’s no free man and everyone has their own gap to maintain.

Half the people on here think it's unacceptable to ever give up a touchdown, despite the modern game being set up to result in more points.

Baker is a good DC. He just gets in his own way sometimes trying to be too clever.

LSU Offense SEC ranks:

YPP - 6th
PPG - 2nd
3rd down % - 2nd
1st downs/game - 1st
RZ Score % - 8th
RZ TD % - 5th
TOP/Game - 2nd (defense impacts this one as well)

to drink in the Matt House era.

Matt House had a top 30 defense his first year with 39 scholarship players.

Yall forget that around here.

The two runs you brought up definitely tells the DT didn’t do their jobs. Let’s break it down for you. In one gap run fits you have an gap period not help others or anything just your gap. Kentucky run, look at the alignment. 29 has contain, the star/sam has the B, the DT in the 2i which means he has play side A, guess where the Mike has to fill? Backside A. Even Kiffin said we had a player scooped out his gap (which means blocked) backside DT has backside B, Will has C and backside DE has contain. Then that miss st qb run literally had a dt in the 1tech who was suppose force the double and maintain playside A while the star has the B and DE contain. DT literally vacates his assigned gap and shots dang to gaps over forcing the LB to try and pick and choose when he’s not suppose to in a fit
