I was a walk on on the Cross Country team in the 70s. Coach told me that nobody wants to run Cross Country at LSU because it's too hot. Think about 95 degrees 90% humidity and running 4 or 5 miles.

That's BS. It's no different than any Gulf Coast state. Houston cranks out some of the best High schoolers in the country. Florida and Florida State have good CC teams. Alabama is one of the top college teams. Like I said, we had some good teams at LSU back in the 80's. But we brought in guys from Michigan, Illinois, Virginia, Missouri, Texas, Florida and some foreign guys. There were 2 or 3 guys from La. on the team but La. just does not have enough home grown talent. LSU needs to go out and recruit guys from other states like they used to.

You should still be able to find 5 guys that could run at least a 32 minute 10k
The high school state CC meet was yesterday and today at Northwestern State. There are PLENTY of guys and girls out there that could help this team, but until LSU offers scholarships they will continue to go to other schools. I agree though that the distance coaching sucks.
