It's profitable as hell, but a ton of work. The economics of it are explained in the partner column to the DIG link I dropped earlier.

They paid 6 grand and got 91 pages of useless, outdated prospect material and still paid him in full and didn't ask for the correct stuff. Something about that just stinks.
Also, as long as LSU can document that it asked for California and Kansas juco prospects and got California and Kansas prospects, they should be fine.
If this is bad news for us, Oregon is in a complete shite pile. They paid 4 times what we did and have no documentation of what they were needing from Lyle in return.

Subjective and assumptive.
If I'm LSU, the biggest concern is Patrick Peterson's recruitment, because he actually came to LSU. Even in that case, however, it seems Lyles, as usual, was jumping on a big name recruit to build his own profile.

Glad to hear we're in the clear

I wouldn't say that. The PP7 story is going to be an issue at some point. Peterson definitely lied about knowing Lyles. Whether that was a misspeak in panic or a lie to cover something up, I don't know. I'd think the former, but...

The issue is whether Lyles shopped PP7, and if so whether LSU paid.
There is one source for the PP7 rumors: Van Malone. Everyone else in anyway connected with the rumors denies it flatly. Including Lyles, PP7, Peterson's dad, and the former LSU coach who recruited him.
Texas A&M, Malone's former employer at the time of the allegations, issues a statement calling the reports a "non issue".
We're ok.

The only thing that makes me look into it more is Peterson's denial of even knowing Lyles, which is completely untrue. Like I said, he may have misspoke. I thought LSU was dumb to put out a statement about that anyway. But it's going to be looked into by the NCAA.

if high school and junior college coaches are there to help the student athlete get into a 4 yr college on scholarship
High school and junior college coaches have multiple priorities, the first of which is winning games at his institution. Getting kids into college is something that most coaches do on the side if they have the time/will.

Lyles already outright denied the PP7 claims and so did PP7. Good luck with them finding anything on that if true. I highly doubt they're going to find a paper trail 3 years after it happened.

If LSU catches any shite over this, yet Auburn is able to walk after clearly buying players, I will bomb the NCAA.

They both would have no good reason not to deny this. Admission for either would be doom. Not that it happened. Just saying.

Agreed. It was likely Malone spewing. But, Peterson's lie was still dumb.

And for all practical purposes we are in the clear. Les runs a tight ship.

If you post over here, then I HIGHLY suggest that you don't post in the same manner as you do on the SEC rant.
If you do, then you won't last long.

Not to mention, who would you expect to give more of an unbiased or accurate depiction of these players. Their coach? Or a recruiting service.

quote:Some do - some don't. Point is, 6k was paid to Lyles for material that was available for free & is still collected for free by colleges that don't have the overflowing coffers of the top DI programs (this is one of the arguments related to getting some of that money to the players). On a related note, these same schools (excess cash/budget and rely on recruiting services more than staff evaluation) are the ones with high atrittion rates.
Don't people pay a thousand dollars for a wedding videographer?

I havn't seen the LSU video but I'm sure its pretty long... maybe includes EVERY play of Mett at the Community College. Dozens of hours on each player I'd bet.
Keep in mind, these are not crappy little home videos on you tube, or crappy 30 second videos on rivals. And I'm sure they are the property of Lyles. Meaning he or an employee filmed them himself.... not downloaded himself off the internet.
Don't know if anyone has tried to see videos of Metts CC team play, but they are horrible. NOT what Lyles provided I'm sure.
Free for the asking from the JC.

...it's pretty clear LSU hasn't broken any NCAA rules. In fact, they've been extremely complaint about the whole thing.
Only thing we are guilty of is fiscal mis-management - "when you got it, flaunt it!"

could this be the tip of an iceberg?

Scroll back, and you'll see that LSU has dotted it's i's and crossed it's t's.
We are just fine. How's things over there?
