First off,I apologize to the Mods if this is in the wrong forum.

Secondly, congrats to you tigers on your season. Impressive to say the least.

And finally to why I started this thread, I was in a heated debate with a family member over the holiday, who is a Clemson alum, about SEC and ACC football and the LSU/Clemson comparison came up. I was telling him that Clemson stole Tiger rag and the nickname Death Valley from LSU. He denied it, so who is right? Thanks in advance.

Tiger Rag is old as shite. I don't think anyone stole it from anyone.

I'm sure you'll get fair and unbiased answers here on the Tiger Rant.

Regardless, we are the far better Tigers.

They had Death Valley first..... we were known as Deaf Valley and it morphed into Death.

Pretty sure we had the Tiger Rag

Don't quote me on this, but pretty sure Clemson had Death Valley first. LSUs was called Deaf Valley and people eventually called it Death Valley enough that it became common.

banned, but this afternoon, the drum major was literally offered $300+ to have us play it

it killed him to deny the offer

I think they both belong to Clemson pre 50's. LSU just takes what it wants, and makes it their own.

Considering "Tiger Rag" is a Dixieland standard that originated in New Orleans nearly 100 yrs ago, I think we own that one...Death valley is actually debatable. Depends on who's story you believe but Tiger Stadium was actually referred to as "Deaf Valley" before it was called death valley

i'm pretty sure Clemson had death valley before us. something about their AD going to California's death valley and bringing back "Howard's Rock". Not sure about the Tiger Rag

our weekly favorite from the crowd somehow knew the drum major's name, yelled at him to play tiger rag, and took out three 100 dollar bills one at a time just to get it played

it seemed like he was dead serious, too!
