I'm in an LSU math class right now and the teacher just asked us to explain the Gibbs phenomenon. I said it's when an all-American catcher leaves and we have no one to replace him with.
Remember when Gibbs batted in the .200s his freshman year? Same with Nola. Ross will get there. Although, he is not a switch-hitter.

That was his average at the end of the season, but he didn't break into the .300s until about a couple series before the SEC tourney.

Not saying Ross will be a terrible catcher by any means.
Just tough to go back to chuck after eating Prime rib.
Personally I like both Ross and Snickeris. Ross has the build to be a great power hitter, just wanted to see more throws to second and third on steals, other defensive things, etc.

What's the deal with the Slaid kid. Is he just not ready or no good?
I'd imagine not ready yet. He'll be a contributor to the team in time.

Ross had a VERY slow start in Fall practice. He came on strong at the end.
I'm hoping that is going to happen with the season. He has concentrated so much on handling the young pitchers and playing defense that he's been really out of sync at the plate.
He got his first multi-hit game yesterday, so maybe he's turning the corner.

You're thinking of his SO year. He struggled early and was in the low-mid .200s for a while. Finished at .294

It's a +4000 math course and therefore I'm the only one in here who's native language is English if you know what I mean.
That is our own damned fault. Other countries have much better educational systems and kids that at least act as though they want to be educated. (By the way, I have a degree in math from LSU. I thought it was funny.)

semi funny. Probably would have snickered a bit... And I agree we dont have anyone to replace him. At least not yet.
Did you use the word "snickered" because this is a thread about the catchers and we have one named snickeris??? That's pretty slick if you meant to do that, if not...WHO THE HELL SAYS "SNICKERED???

Who was the catcher that got kicked off the team last year?
Anyone know why he was dismissed?
He flunked out of school in his first semester at LSU.
No, Wes Luquette went to Newman, that's not even possibility. He broke team rules is all I've heard.
