You also have to remember that no one that is under 26 or so truly knows what LSU basketball has the potential to be. Sure Ben Simmons was cool for them but they dont know what the Deaf Dome really is...

But I agree, the crowd was lackluster last night

I'm 29. Just care about sports and be a historian of the game.

All I've had in my life was '99-00, '06 Final Four, and that time we beat Butler with Trent.

I long for a return to that kind of excitement. I think a lot of us do. Success has been so sporadic that we feel we're part of something when it happens.

When I watch basketball highlights, I see a lot of old people in the stands.

I think spectator sports in general. whether college or pro, have a diminished live experience now. Too many people looking at their phones etc. The attention span of the average American has nosedived. You will never see another return to the glory days of early 90's LSU basketball with regards to fan experience. People just aren't as passionate in this day and age.

This. And I normally hate the "BACK IN MY DAY" arguments that people automatically jump to. I'm a season ticket holder and I make it to absolutely every game I can but I dont think people, young or old, are generally as motivated to get out to a non-marquee matchup November college basketball game. Re: the students, I dont think young people in general care much for college basketball and they haven't for a while - not exactly a new development. They will show up for big matchups and as the team continues to improve but the days of having a packed house for a decent OOC game in November are long, long gone. It is what it is at this point.

Hard to get excited about a sport that relies more on specific matchups than the overall talent of the team and the way they play.
