LSU Basketball - Injury/Depth Issues

It doesn't look like luck is going to be on LSUs side. The Wade issue last season and how that issue was handled is going to hinder this basketball team. I think if the situation is handled differently, LSU lands another quality recruit or two for this season. Having Quninones from Memphis would have been huge, he was a lock to LSU before all the Wade stuff leaked.
Anyways, we are going to be very thin for the next few weeks or maybe longer. It sounds like the Manning injury could be seasoning ending, hopefully that isn't the case. The game was really starting to slow down for Manning, he looked great to start SEC play. Also, losing Marlon again is huge. He needed minutes to get the rust off. Marlon hasn't looked like the Marlon from last season. Obviously, his foot was still bothering him and he hasn't played a lot of basketball recently.
Does anyone know what happened to Bishop? Could it be a grades issue? He has not played a single minute (that i know of) since after the break. I didn't think he was playing terrible before SEC, I just thought he was adjusting to the college game.
Lastly, what about Caleb Starks? I know he is a walk on, but the kid played at NWST and on the JUCO level. Is he capable of playing a few minutes if our guards are in foul trouble?
Hyatt, Graves, Cooper, and Bishop will all need to step up if we want to overcome the injury bug.

Looks like Manning will be out 3-4 weeks. That's better than what was expected, but we will still need some end of the bench players to step up.

I was wondering why Hyatt and Cooper didn’t play last year when LSU was desperately short on depth. Now I know why.

Hyatt was recovering from a injury sustained in high school. Dude could still turn into a player give him time.

Will Wade confirms on his radio show Wednesday night that Charles Manning Jr. will have surgery Thursday after breaking the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot during Tuesday night's overtime win at Texas A&M.

quote:...I thought that might have been the case..I broke mine on my left foot and I was out of action for 6 weeks...no surgery was required... crutches 1st few days then a walking boot for 5 weeks...when I took it off and started running again it was like I had a flat tire... took about 2 weeks to get to full speed ..hoping for a speedy recovery for Manning... a very painful injury...BUMMER...

Marshall Graves about to play some significant minutes.
He was on the court the final 2 minutes of regulation and all of OT even with Hyatt and Cooper available.

If there is any silver lining here, we are losing depth, not starters. We REALLY cant afford to lose any BIGS. But again, I keep asking this board to find me a "really good" SEC team right now.
Kentucky could and should lose to South Carolina tonight and Auburn is for a WAR in T-Town
So, I agree we need some depth to step forward and give us some solid minutes. But if there is any chance we could get a healthy Manning and Taylor around March 1, we could make a run in the Tournament esp Sweet 16 or Elite 8

I have been hoping Bishop would get more PT. More of a PG than Smart. Has a nice jump shot. Was wondering same thing. Why he's not getting any PT.

I mean as long as they can get healthy for the tourny, I wouldn't give up on the season just yet.
