Only saw 1 caught stealing while I was there. Bregs thrown out at 2nd by Suh-vick. Several pick offs by pitchers mainly from runners leaving 2nd base too early. It looked to me the emphasis was on running the bases hard and make the defense respond. Chinea was throwing the ball all over the place including a couple of times into CF. Suh-vick had several nice blocks on balls in the dirt.

It appears to me that Coach has been running like crazy during these scrimmages to test the catchers. I know the catchers (Moore in particular) have been criticized for not throwing out runners and I was wondering how that went tonight. As I've said before, the ability to throw out runners is less important than other things catchers do IMO.
So, Sciv looks good defensively behind the plate?

Suh-vick looks like a catcher. Runs like one, too. It's hard to evaluate him based on only 5 innings play. Moore handled 1st base like a pro. Bregs made an error. He dropped a throw from Moore on a runner pick off play. Bregs is definitely the vocal leader when his team is in the field.
One pitcher, Bouman I think, didn't cover 1st base quickly on a grounder to 1st base. Bregs drowned out Alan Dunn yelling at the pitcher to cover.
