We can sit here and post raw numbers all night. If you've ever actually watched Shaq play at LSU, especially when he was pissed. You know Shaq becomes unstoppable in the post. You're a buffoon in you think Alcindor or Chamberlin could actually body him up and keep him from dunking by themselves. Keep in mind that if you double Shaq, CJ and Pistol are waiting outside to drill a three or dish to one of the forwards.

There's nobody that could stop them. The original dream team in 91 would be a push. We're talking Pistol Pete, the greatest college basketball player to ever play. Shaq, arguably the most physically dominating center to ever play college ball, and CJ, the closest thing to Maravich in college basketball since Pete left LSU.

the thing about maravich is that he never even got to an ncaa tournament. his team was pure shite im sure, but still. danny manning took the miracle squad to a title and that sticks out.

I said this before, this comparison, at least for me, is more about how good they were in the generation they played in, than it is, could Chamberlain stop Shaq, etc. Same comparison as Ruth vs Bonds, Unitas vs Manning, etc. And don't think for a second that I don't think Shaq was a great great dominating player, but I don't compare eras that way.

OK, you're getting carried away.

A lot of people are overlooking this. CJ was simply amazing at LSU and you will be hard pressed to find any guard better than him.

players like durant do a lot, but sometimes detract from a team. maravich would take away from a team like this significantly.

How do you know this? From what I saw (as a kid) Maravich was a pretty good teammate in the pros. I would love to see what kind of pro he really could have been if his knees had held up.

Take away?? Maravicch would give the team 60 points with a three point line by himself. Tack on another 35 for CJ and a reasonable 25 for Shaq and that's a ball game.

I would love to have seen Red Auerbach get ahold of Pete fresh out of LSU.

if maravich is scoring 40+, the other players are not getting that many points.

Maravich is feeding Shaq and CJ also. Maravich still holds assist records at LSU also.

It would be a 'pick your poison' kinda deal. If Pete did'nt make it to 60 and say only scored 45 on you, that means one of the other guys is scoring because Pete is feeding them. It's either Shaq inside or Pistol and CJ outside. Which way do you want to die?

Going by Pete's AVERAGE of 44 in college, as well as Pete dropping 68 on a young Walt Frazier, supposedly the best NBA defender of his day. 40 isn't far fetched at all.

Frazier actually told his coach he didn't want to guard Pete anymore in the 3rd quarter.

SI actually did a all-time team tourney with 32 programs, we actually came in a respectable second to ucla. We killed UK in the first round and north carolina in the first final four game. They even gave play by play .."Maravich with another no look pass to shaq that goes offs his head for a fifth time!"pretty funny stuff but we dominated everyone until ucla then just could not hang with walton and kareem, They did win like ten in twelve and reveloutionized defenses by playing full court
