As much as the LSU football team has to travel, you'd think that United would have painted up an LSU themed plane by now. It's not THAT hard to ensure that the specifically painted plane is available for team flights & leave it to regular flights the rest of the year. Imagine the PR + Ad boost from various Top P5 teams having their own painted planes. Think about how cool it would be to have an LSU plane flying in & out of BTR on a regular basis.
Then add to that areas like Austin, Miami, San Francisco, Nashville, etc. with planes of their own local/regional P5 teams.

why would it be so important to paint a plane?

only a handful of nfl teams travel in a company painted plane

You know we are having a good season, when this is how far people have to reach to find something to bitch about.

I'm not bitching at all.

Just going full MadMen to try to help spread the LSU brand. A couple in airplane paint is more than worth it.

Better for United to have United on the side of the plane then LSU or any other school.

If boosters want to purchase a jet and paint it up that's one thing but an air transport company is not going to do it.

while it would be cool as hell, a plane that would carry a hundred people would be ungodly expensive for use just 5 or 6 nights per year.

Yeah, those WHOLE 4 regular season games (maybe 5 per year), along with a bowl (on average) really make that investment by United worth then.

Then, from an operational and customer service perspective for United, you have other teams wanted painted planes, you have to tell some it's not worth it, then piss off fans, other others flying on United...how would you feel if you were in Atlanta and had to jump on the Alabama or Auburn painted plane...it's just not worth the hassle for United to deal with.

So, long story short, from a practical, business, and common sense standpoint...your idea crashes and burns.

I will share a pearl I once read from the font of all wisdom (The OT Lounge)

If We're having a bad season, do they unpaint it? Will Bama fans be allowed to fly on it during the off season?

No, it was cut up and salvaged several years ago.

Another issue with this idea is that the Tigers don't always use the same size aircraft. Normally they fly in a B737-800 series, but for some games they use B767's.

A.
5 road games + SECCG game + CFP Semis/bowl game +/- CFP Final. That's 6-8 by my count on a regular basis.

B.
Big difference between "other" teams & top P5 teams, like I mentioned in my OP.

C.
A few $1000s ain't hurting anyone vs. all the media/social media exposure it would get.

The idea has...........WINGS.

It costs $100,000 to $200,000 to paint a 737 depending on colors and scheme.
