It means this!

quote:

Two players are listed at co-starters at free safety - redshirt freshman Craig Loston and true freshman Eric Reid. Both of those players are listed ahead of senior Jai Eugene on the depth chart at that position.

I'm not trying to be some internet tough guy, I'm just not sure how you don't get it.

I'm not making a prediction or stating a preference - I'm telling you what the LSU SID has released for the media guide and it shows Eugene as a back up, period.

it may change but that is what is happening as of now.

It means they are co-starters so technically it does, though 'split time' might not be the best way to describe it.

I'm not sure how the defensive sets will effect who is on the field when or to what degree Eugene will se action but Eugene is clearly the back up at this point.

yes, but this is the same depth chart showing the tight ends at the Y position. Miles seemed to indicate that Eugene was #1 in his press conference today, and that the other two would see action...so I would guess this is a typo with Eugene as the starter and Loston or Reid backing up.

Although there was some hedging going on, so who knows.

Maybe, and again I was very surprised to see Eugene lose his spot but according to the depth chart that's what happened.

Poppa, with Jai backing up. Lets just let Reid dominate on special teams this year then back up Poppa next year.

heres his quote from today's press conference.....

quote:

On the safety position opposite of starter S Brandon Taylor...
"I think Jai Eugene certainly gives us a guy who is awfully quality and understands the scheme and can make plays back there. He communicates extremely well. I think there is an opportunity for some of our young guys to develop and bigger, more physical guys. In the running game, that may be an advantage. I think Craig Loston, Eric Reid and a number of guys may well step in there and play some."

so....he mentions Jai first, but he's third on the depth chart.....makes perfect sense.....

1000x over Loston. I cant believe Eugene would be any better than he is and Loston is the future.

Southernman I understand your persistance, no one likes to be proven wrong, but I think it is time to cut your losses. Your digging an extremely deep hole that everyone on this board will bury you in shortly after the game on Saturday.

How am I wrong and what does Saturday have to do with it?

The LSU Sports Information Department released a Media Guide with Depth Chart that shows Loston and Reid ahead of Jai Eugene.

Either Eugene is not the starter or the LSU SID doesn't know what they are doing, not sure how that will bury me or why I'd care.

And again, FTR, I like Eugene and would be surprised if he lost his job but that IS they way it reads on the depth chart.
