One AP writer thinks it could happen:

"If there was ever a year when no playoff was needed, it’s this one. The Tigers have knocked off five teams in The Associated Press’ current Top 25— including three of the top eight. They’ll still have to win one more game to claim the BCS title, but a case can be made that they deserve to be voted No. 1 in the AP poll, no matter what happens Jan. 9 in the Big Easy."

If USC "deserved" it in 2003, we absolutely do in this situation. Unless we get our arse handed to us in the NCG.

Only if they play Bama again because then the argument can be made they are 1-1 against each other. If they play OK State and lose OK State will be #1 in all polls.

And don't flame me, I didn't say they would deserve it, just stating the fact that some probably will split the title.

We played a much harder schedule than 2003 USC.
