Just curious but who is your son since you said he's one of the states best kickers of the last 4 years?

He was born and trained in LA, but went to highschool across the border in MS.

Ramos is a really good college kicker but he won’t get past a few tryouts in the NFL much like Cole Tracy. You have to have the leg from at the very least 55-57 and really 60+ yards to be one of those 32 kickers. There’s just way too many games that come down to FGs and they are often very long ones. For LSU’s purposes I’m just fine having a guy I know is going to make a solid kick almost 100% of the time and the entire team knows that they have to get to the 35 to give Ramos a chance at a kick. That was just about exactly where we had to get for Tracy to kick one.

Maybe he never intended to go to LSU even if they offered which I have no idea if they did or not. Some kids just want to leave home, I know I sure did and I wouldn’t change a thing starting college at the U of Colorado. I loved Boulder. Hope your boy has great success at Florida. (Just not when he plays LSU of course)

Absolutely not. If we can get close to 80% on FGs with a long of 50 we should be very happy. Next year will be interesting AF…not sure Burrell is an 80% kicker in practice.

Ramos was right at 50 last year,

I would not have bet 2 cents on Ramos over 45 last year which is why I was wondering if Burrell could be the longshot PK over 45. I did look his stats up and he did hit a 50 yd FG vs UF which is probably why I didnt know that (didnt see it).

He has progress in Career long from 47 to 48 to 50 last season and has maintained an 80% accuracy clip. You know more about this kicking than me. I thought Todd was a terrible holder. What say you? Just seemed like when they replayed a miss by Ramos the snap/set was not good.

Ramos has been solid. Todd did not look good back there at times. Breaking in a new holder is sometimes a negative, but in this case probably not.

Ramos has overachieved IMO, hope he goes out and kills it this year.

Yeah Ramos was never expected to be the starting kicker. He was always supposed to be one of those walk-on or non scholarship guys that college teams have at the kicker spot but the scholarship usually is the one that wins the job. In this case it was Nathan Dibert that we gave a scholarship to but Ramos beat him out as freshmen and every year after that until Dibert transferred back up north to the Michigan area he’s from. Now its Ramos on scholarship.
