Worse would be to hire a Lane Kiffen type who leaves us at the worst possible time and screws up the program for years to come.
ok, so let's keep the coach no other program in their right mind wants or will ever come after.

I concur. High school coaches manage the game better than he does. That is not a lie or an exaggeration, it's the truth.

so you want to compare les to the lowest common demoinator? as long as he's not as bad as curly or dinardo it's all good?
Posted on 1/14/10 at 6:03 pm to 1999
Dude, chill, Everything will work out on it's own after next year anyways.
Regardless of what you or I think. That's the reality of it all.

I watched Curley Hallman and Gerry DiNardo coach at LSU. Les is far from the worst we could do.
Don't set the bar too high, do you???

So, did Tenn or USC approach Miles? Hell no - They don't want him. So, what's the whole point of this thread? It means nothing.

i'm chill, just discussing football on a messageboard designed for it. if you don't feel like talking the current situation then just don't read the thread.
Posted on 1/14/10 at 6:07 pm to 1999
Exactly. This guy starts a thread about how lucky we are to have Miles because 2 other schools (at the worst possible times in completely different situations) didn't get their first choice. And that is supposed to make everyone glad to have Les as our coach?
Not following the logic...

I'm already on record as saying I'd like to see Pelini as next coach at LSU.
The difference between me and a lot of the posters in this thread is I'm not automatically assuming that the next head coach of LSU will be better than the current one.

It won't be too difficult to find someone with the ability to gameplan and actually have the team ready to play each week. 2 primary tasks of coaching that have escaped his mental capacity.

if that happens then it will be the most colossal failure of failures in the history of failures. pelini would pull a kiffin on nebraska imo to come back to LSU, and i don't even think he'd be an initial candidate for the job. you're syaing you there's a possibility we'd have to settle for the 4th, 5th, or 6th guy on our list---i'm saying any of those guys on that part of the list would be an upgrade.

And I'm saying that there's a chance that's not true.
Neither of us will know unless and until Les Miles actually leaves LSU.
Notice how I said that.

Did Tenn approach Saban or Brown or Beamer or Stoops or del Rio? How would you know?
But the truth is that you don't KNOW who Tenn might have approached. Do you? You have no clue. About a lot of stuff.

i can 100% say that les miles was never considered for the tenn job.

Then you must not completely understand exactly how bad our current coach is.

Unless Leslie all of the sudden becomes capable of fielding a team that doesn't play stupid and make every game into a boring, sloppy, and ugly mess, then I don't really care who we get to replace him.

Ummm... All of you people really sound utterly retarded to be honest. You are comparing USC and Tennessee to LSU.
USC is as good or better a job under normal circumstances, but let's get real. They are possibly about to get nailed with sanctions, and no coach in their right mind would go there right now. Thus, Lane Kiffin went.
At Tennessee, it is a completely different story. They weren't prepared at all for Kiffin leaving, AND have potential recruiting violation issues, and HAVE to recruit nationally with absolutely minimal talent in their own state. I'd assume if LSU FIRED Les (not him leaving utterly out of the blue), they'd have at least made some preparations in advance for a replacement search.
That said, LSU is a very talented team in a recruiting healthy state and good connections into hot recruiting beds in Texas, Mississippi, and Florida. I'd say that's a much better job opportunity.
People forget that the reason we ended up with Miles in the first place was because Petrino made a supposedly "anti-Semitic" joke that our idiotic AD (at the time) got offended by and said forget it.
In the end, anyone expecting Les to be fired this year is just a moron.

I would take Derek Dooley over Miles (after all, he DID outcoach Miles with a bunch of non-starter freshmen, and almost won). Don't think he wouldn't be moving to BR if asked!!
(Not that I think we can't do BETTER than Dooley, mind you. But he's still better than Miles.)
