Sorry to hear that was your experience. I've lived here for 25 years. In the same house for 17. My property taxes climbed when the value went up. Leveled when it didn't. Have to admit (just as everywhere I would bet)they have never gone down as the value has. As for law enforcement, I've seen plenty Wild life and fisheries officers, side by side with parish deputies at the landing in Henderson. What I'm trying to say is there are loads of taxes and fees no matter the state. But I just don't think any of the ones you cited add up to the 12-17% state income tax y'all have to pay.
