Going through my Dad's stuff and found this. Harvey Williams on the cover (lower right, #44). Other noteworthy names, Jeff George and Ward Manuel. Inside, page after page of single spaced recruit bios, compiled before the internet.
Sorry for the potato phone.

Max Emfinger - The guy that ranked the 1992 LSU recruiting class #1 in the nation, mostly because of the running back class which turned out to be a massive disappointment.

that magazine is from 1985, a little HS recruiting story close to home ...
My father was friends with Max as they spoke regularly over the years. During my brother's HS recruiting, Max made a call to Pat Jones at OK State. After the visit and workout, my brother was offered a scholarship (QB and P) and verbally committed to the Cowboys. My parents and brother attended a game during Barry Sanders' 1988 Heisman winning year.
In January 1989, Jones called my dad confirming that OSU was placed on probation due to the Hart Lee Dykes situation. OSU was banned from bowl games, banned from TV, and stripped of FB scholarships. OSU could not offer my brother which left him without a school and NSD was only weeks away. Max made another call as my brother ended up signing with an SEC school.
