geeez. Nothing is ever JJ's fault.

These frickers are grasping at anything they can. Grow some balls, and take responsibility

JJ has already been caught in multiple lies since the start, how can you people just look past this point ?

Charging vs conviction two different things. JJ is damaged but there's a lot more out there that will come out before its over. Whether JJ ever plays at LSU again is another question that will run its course. Time certainly doesn't seem to be on his side.

Just have to wait and see, nothing we can do but rant and the Rant is a perfect place to do that!

Stay tuned.

It is LSU's decision who suits up on Saturdays.

It is the coaches decision who steps on the field.

NCAA is watching every move the make.

Do not expected an LSU student who has been arrested for a felony to step onto the field at LSU unless he is cleared by the legal system.

Unglesby is just grandstanding.

Don't buy into this.He cannot force LSU's hand.

Let him push all he wants.

Regardless of what some people may think, nobody has a RIGHT to play football for LSU. It's a PRIVILEGE, subject to revocation, just like any other.

Unglesby knows this. He's just blowing a lot of smoke. It's what he does.

Fewer - GREAT post. This is exact.

I disagree with your assessment of what Unglesby said. He said getting JJ reinstated would not involve legal action. He said that would be out of the question. He was pretty much saying he had to find out how to go about doing it through discussion with the university and Les Miles.

He was asked directly if he would pursue legal action to get JJ reinstated and he stressed that was not an option. If he takes that off the table I would hardly say he would do anything to get him playing again. He sounded like he would just have discussions not create havoc.

I'm gonna go with this version. not as sensational, so most prob won't read it.

Bingo. Do you really think the LSU administration wants the "felon" reference on national TV every time their team takes the field.

He will never see another play at LSU as a player.

If attorneys could force universities to put certain players on the field, every lawyer's kid would be playing in the NCAA.

This isn't the days of the Kingfish. If Obama and Jindal both told Les to play someone, he'd tell them to frick off.

Agreed. Lewis is a tough as nails defense attorney that doesn't give quarter. No pleas, no deals and no agreeing to fault. Its either going to be a conviction on 2nd degree battery, charges dropped or the jury comes back with a verdict of innocence.

Well, considering I never once mentioned anything about any kind of legal action, your assessment sucks.

Go back and really read what I wrote.

Unglesby is about as aggressive an attorney as there is. He doesn't need anyone to push him. And there is no reason to suggest that Jefferson is pushing him.

So you're going to do with the version that is factually untrue? The Rant lives!

So who's this superhero anyway?...no experience on doing this...you can really count on this person to take on a university....do you not think that the NCAA has required this ?...

Internally, the university definitely has a process. The student code of conduct has a "due process" chain where the university and the student have opportunities to determine what happen and whether or not sanctions should be administered.

You just played it didn't you? Who would most hate racism being exposed? Who would get most angry? Who would most likely try to bring a negative light to claims of racism? A racist?

Unglesby needs to focus on JJ's legal issues right now and not whether or not he takes the field. That has no bearing on this case and it would serve as a distraction for the entire team if a legal battle ensued over his suspension from the team. Miles made the right move. He didn't dismiss, he suspended for the time being. Plus, if Unglesby tries to usurp Miles' decision and pisses him off by doing so, guess who doesn't get to start? Or is he going to fight for that too!

This is my paraphrase but it's exactly the scenario he painted:

He's gonna push through the University to get JJ reinstated regardless of the havoc it would create.

He mentioned he has no experience in what to do in order to get JJ back onto the team, but that he was gonna do everything he could to get it done and that there had to be some University process through which it is done.

If you thought it was over and we were just playing football, think again.

Stay tuned.

I don't see this being a problem. Pushing the university to the point of causing problems (which I assume is your point) would turn Jefferson into the enemy and remove the pressure from the DAs office. He does not want to do that.

More than likely, he will have those meetings with the University simply as another tool to indicate to the public that Jefferson is innocent. It's a PR ploy. But, he's not going to put public pressure on LSU to the point where it would cause problems.
