The only lifetime contract I've ever heard of was for Coach Bryant at Alabama. It was there for him as long as he wanted it and until he retired. The money was handled like so...though he could have asked and gotten anything, he would only take $1.00 less than the president of the university's annual salary.

Mike Krzyzewski has a lifetime contract with Duke.

It's a terrible idea. Many coaches have a great run and then it goes south for whatever reason. Pay O market value and leave plenty for staff. I do not think he's a threat to leave. O will retire when his run is done at LSU.

A lifetime contract for any coach is ridiculous even if they won 10 national championships in a row.
