All of this in their ranking coming out of high school.

Safeties:
Greg Brooks (3 star transfer from Arkansas )
Major Burns (4 star transfer from Georgia )

CBs:
Duce Chestnut (2 star transfer from Syracuse)
Zy Alexander (2 star transfer from Louisiana)

Nickle:
Andre Sam (2 star transfer from Marshall)
Sage Ryan (5 Star enrolled at LSU )

LBs:
Omar Speights (3 star transfer from Oregon State)
Greg Penn (4 star enrolled at LSU)
Harold Perkins (5 star enrolled at LSU)

DL:
Mekhi Wingo (3 star transfer from Missouri )
Jordan Jefferson (3 star transfer from WVU)
Jacobian Guillory (4 star recruit enrolled at LSU)
Parish Shand (3 star transfer from Arizona)

DEs:
Bradyn Swinson (3 star transfer from Oregon)
Ovie Oghoufo (3 star transfer from Texas )
Savion Jones (4 star enrolled at LSU)

Tough to believe at first. This is not an LSU talent defense. Not saying they can’t improve, but this is not a recipe for success now and in the future. Our depth does not look any better.

Georgia, Alabama, Ohio States will be filled with 4 and 5 star RECRUITS mostly. Their depth will be from high school recruits as well.

Bottom line is LSU is gonna need to recruit way better. Using transfers from lower end schools has not worked out and is not the same talent.

Why even recruit guys like Kylin Jackson if you’re going to play guys like Sam over him

Coaches don’t recruit players based on their 24/7 recruiting rankings.

Damn. We should have gotten better players out of the portal or better high school talent. After this year, the excuses have to stop. This is LSU, we have to get some ballers.

No offense to Chestnut, but he really just isn't tall enough to guard St. Jude's 8th grade WR....would eat 'em up

The guys from ULL , should have stayed there.

The fan base is slowly coming to the realization that Kelly can’t recruit. Frank can’t do it all.

Agreed man. We all know who fricked us before he left. That being said I’m glad they finally pulled sage ryan. I don’t wanna read anymore posts about how much he’s improved bs

Should we really be worried about BKs recruiting prowess?

I’m sure most of them don’t. But typically the best players are ranked as such. Obviously there are a few outliers. But it’s no secret that UGA, Bama and Ohio State have the most 4 and 5 star players. Shockingly, they are ranked 1,3 and 4 in the nation right now.

Sadly, some of this is still some of the mess Coach O left behind.

Kelly knows this and has stated this.

Problem is, you can’t play exclusively freshmen and expect to win either.

2023 DB and DT class left some to be desired. DE class is exciting. 2024 DB class looks great, still a lot of work to do on the DL. It’s a process.

But why can’t the highly recruited young in’s beat out the transfers for the starting spot?

Now I want you to calculate how much money you think it costs these days to have Dogs across the board.

Do we have the people truly willing to do that?

Money talks, BS walks

It’s like why didn’t Perkins beat out Mike Jones or Penn last year and play more earlier in the year.. Sometimes the young guys need play time. Practice does not tell the whole story imo.

Maybe if we wouldn't have let a 4 star in 2020 from Opelousas go to Michigan St he wouldn't have transferred to FSU and killed us tonight

Yeah way too many 2 and 3 stars for a SEC program the caliber of LSU. Stars do matter and they matter a lot. Sure you have the occasional 3 that lights it up and the 5 that becomes a bust but the more 4s and 5 s you have the better your chances of winning a title.
