Let's see if we can reach some kind of consensus on the O.

I'm not one that tends to complain often about the team, the coaches or the players. In fact, some may call me a sunshine pumper. But that doesn't mean I don't see problems with the team.

I'd offer the following two statements to see if we can reach something like universal agreement on at least a couple of issues;

1 - LSU has performed significantly below average on offense for a team of their status for multiple years now.

2 - Ultimately the people responsible for this is the coaching staff and when all is said and done the head coach.

I don't think you went too far out on a limb with these statements, but I agree. Be prepared for the rebuttals.

High School Game Plan has been in effect for years.

In the past our big uglies could beat their big uglies. Now they are the same size.

A major change has to happen, unfortunatly it will take some hiring and firing by our Coach.

It really doesnt matter if its Crowton, or Stud, or Krags, or the next guy. If Miles doesnt get this thumb off of the OC and let them break his mold, Im afraid this is what we will be stuck with.

Last year we had a dominant run game, and we dismantled defenses by wearing them down. This year, we cant run therefore we cant do anything. Obviously Miles offense strategy relies almost exclusively on a power run game fueled by great offensive line play. If the O line isnt great, his offense is nonexistent.

PS - With that in mind, great coaches will adapt to their players' strengths not continue to force a certain strategy because they're stubborn.

The real Off seemed to diminish once JL was pulled.
Remember the Arky game? Off didnt do shite the first half, once we got some momentum in the 2nd half, it got going.
The next game, the SEC Champ., same thing.
Then we all know what happened in the BCSNC.

This problem has continued into this season.

I can agree with both of these statements.

I'm fine with something simple.

Les Miles is evil, and our offense sucks.

I will be on the consensus with that. Your two statements pretty well sums it all up.

The Mick your PS sums it up perfectly. Any coach worth his or her salt will change to their strengts and will not stubbornly try to do something that worked in the past when their personnel no longer allows for it.

Guy's what happened to the non existent Lsu OF??? That was supposed to be our strength this year because we lost the Honey Badger & are very young on DF. Did Lsu have a first down in the game? With the best RB's in the country on the same team & a qb that is young but doing pretty well, if he had some blocking would be a lot better. The DF did not loose Sat. as u cannot play the entire game. And I see that Obj has joined the Shep good hands team-NOT as they both have butter fingers. And what about the OF play calling just before,2nd.half with 2nd. & goal on the 3 yrd. line & they run Mett on a roll out with Ware in the game. I'm running Ware up the middle on 2nd. & 3rd! down. I am not giving up on the Tigers as when I went to school some times we were 5&5 or 6 &4 but we stayed with them & yelled out hearts out! If Les does not make some adjustments soon we will be lucky to go 8&4 with our schedule!

Personally I think the team was poisoned last year with the JL/JJ debacle and the icing on the cake occurred 01/09/12 when Miles could not make any adjustments during that game. The team lost its identity 01/09/2012 and Miles may not ever be able to get it back.

We have a much bigger problem than a few coaches. We only recruit a minimal number of above average offensive lineman. When you have to keep an extra tight end or a RB in to block, it simplifies the strategy of the defense and shows the talent you have up front.

By using extra blockers, it is easy for the defense to scheme to cover 3 WR's running routes (we are lacking in sure-handed WR's) and allows you to put 9 in the box.

I know it is obvious, but this is why the running game that we have grown accustom to did not show up against Auburn and Florida. It is only going to get tougher.

We are in for a long season until the coaching staff decides to open it up. Sure there will be sacks, but Mettenberger is going to have to take some hits and learn to adapt. The kid looks like a scared teenager out there and sulks like JJ did when things aren't going his way. Grow a pair and get the ball out of your hands or take the sack. Opening it up and not keeping extra guys to block is the only way to get the running game going again.

The offensive coaching has got to stop being so predictable (i.e. Miles). Besides his gutsy plays in the past, the guy has been predictable (no matter who the OC is) and the players can't execute his plays when the defense knows what is coming. He wins games, but besides last year and '07, we win close games every time because we have a good defense. Heck, if we weren't scared to run something out of the ordinary once in a while, our offense would be awesome and we would be people by more than 1-3 points.

Sorry for the ranting, but that is how Monday's are. If we can take care of South Carolina, we are back in it this season.

The offense last year was effective enough for the way Miles likes to play the game (obviously NCG was abysmal).

Without a doubt. Whether he calls the plays or not, it is his responsibility to put a better offense on the field. It all begins and ends with him.
