1) When your offense is predictable, plays get sniffed out. Oftentimes this gets erroneously dismissed as faulty execution.

2) 5 years of "lack of execution" means AT LEAST 2 separate groups of athletes, considering 4 playing years. Knowing this, how can we NOT say that it is CLEARLY a coaching issue? I am NOT willing to concede that LSU recruits the mentally challenged. These are kids who go on to get major college degrees, they are not 85 Jerrel Powe's.

For the engineers in the room, at what point do we stop blaming the bricks, and start blaming the architects?

Lets discuss some more because this is the first thread to be started like this one and there are not 15 other threads on the first page discussing this same exact thing.

That is like blaming 2 classes of students for their inability to learn how to read.

At what sample size do you start saying, "well, there is only one common thread between the 2"

I refuse to accept that 2 highly recruited varied 4-star QB's (JJ and JL) were that incompetent. I know those 2 guys are polarizing, but look at it objectively. Both those were very talented and capable, and both looked like arse in our offense.

I know fans of one will never concede the other was pretty damn good before he got here, but the facts are there.

The only QB we have had that was worth a shite, got half his coaching from the previous staff.

legit points IMO

I prefer this over the other BS spewed round here

lack of execution is a concern. those are monday-friday concerns, practice time etc

problem is none of us can see what happens in practice. do the coaches see that the team as a whole cannot execute things so they don't do them? If they cannot execute...well why? is the play too difficult (please I know, just saying) or are the words coming out of the coaches mouth not reaching the player??

are the players executing at practice then crap themselves in games? if so, why?

This may be the most sensible sentence that I have read on this board in a long, long, time.
Great point right there!

True. We've done a poor job until recently recruiting talent at that position. I will say that Miles has tried to address this issue with the addition of Kragthorpe.

I do think Mett will be a very good QB and improved a good bit over the year, but was still inconsistent (as well as the O-line play).

But yes, the coaching needs to improve on the offensive side of the ball.

I would remind you that J Lee had the highest QB effeciency rating in the SEC last year. So I am not sure the you point is completely valid..

You are also talking about the staff that fielded Marcus Randall... Nothing to brag about there..

miles did try to address the issue with krag and things that were out of his control happened. the problem is he should have fixed it this offseason but didn't do it. I was fine with the in house stuff that was brought upon by krags getting sick for last season but that should have been fixed after 1/9. I would like to see les clean his offensive staff out except wilson because we need wilson. Its not reasonable to want les fired because with his new contract its not happening so les needs to do what he does best and that is recruit, handle special teams and run the day to day stuff. He is a ceo type coach not a hands on guy. If les would let go of the o and allow a real oc to come in alot of the bitching about him would slow down.

I doubt the bitching will ever slow down.

But I definitely think the offensive consistency suffered this year because most gameplans were made by Les, Stud, Krags. There were a few times when the gameplan worked almost to perfection and there were times when it looked like shite and nothing was done to correct it. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

What I really do not understand is how we have gotten so predictable that we cannot get even one yard when we need it on third down. Is it the scheme, the formation, the speed of the play, line calls,???
Watch other games and see what I am referring to. I watched Stanford run the ball down Wisc's throat and they knew who was going to get the ball and pretty close to where. They did not have this problem. So why have we gone to a situation where five guys are meeting the ballcarrier at the handoff or there are so many people in the hole you couldn't squeeze a piece of broom straw through it.

There is a difference between knowing pass/run, and knowing it is going to be a toss- dive, knowing what guard it's going behind, and have practiced against it all month.

They don't just know our tendencies, they know all our plays, and they know exactly when we'll call them.
