Several big TAF people I know claim Saban was ready to come back in 2007 when Miles to Michigan was in full swing.
I don't know what's funnier - When "big TAF guys" think they have inside info, or when people believe them.

Saban had absolutely ZERO loyalty to LSU. To him, it was a business decision and he and Sexton used LSU to the hilt. Miles could have bolted to Michigan many times. He has remained loyal to LSU.
You bring up an interesting phenomenon here. First of all, I will say that at this point, I could care less about Saban. He stepped on his pecker pretty good last year and embarrassed the shite out of UA which was fricking hilarious.
What amazes me is the number of posters who have recently stated that Saban is an azzhole/bad parent/overbearing boor/chippy with the media/throws temper tantrums on the sidelines/yells at players/uncompromising perfectionist/etc. etc
Some of you act like he WASN'T like that when he was here at LSU. He was the same jerk back then that he is now. The difference is, he was our jerk, he was winning here, and was restoring our program to greatness...so it was all good.
Now that he's taken his act to Bama and is having success, everyone acts like these are new developments and piles on proclaiming him "world's biggest douchebag." This drips with hypocrisy.

If you want to talk margin of win over wins, knock yourself out.
Personally, I think that's ridiculous when you're talking about the coach with the most wins in college football and the SEC in the last nine years.
I'm not sure how much fear Auburn, Oklahoma, or any other school had for Alabama this year. The main fear I saw on display was that of Alabama In kicking a field goal from the Aub 13.

Its ridiculous that this statement has to be made. There are a lot of fans who truly believe that Saban is waiting for the opportunity to be back in BR. You cant even acknowledge thoughts like that.
You would think that people would get that by now, even after Texas offered him Fort Knox and he didn't take it.

quote:Keep going! You've almost mentioned every loss Les Miles has at LSU.
giving up wins to bottom dwellers like Arky 2 or 3 times, 2 losses to the worst Ole Miss teams in the last 10 years, and barely getting by one of the worst Auburn teams in a decade in 2012,as well as allowing clusterfricks like the Tennessee games (twice), and allowing Moo State teams to take us to the brink several times, like I said, lets teams believe they can win. In addition to that a few of those LSU losses came in Tiger Stadium as well, so they were NOT intimidated.

What are you talking about? The UA alters and the short yellow bus segment?

Hey, Nick is a great college coach. I'll go with his feel for the game anytime, but I just don't get passing on a FG from the 13 for an attempt to go up by 10 with like 4 mins to play.
I also don't get then turning around and trying a 40-45 FG by a Fr whose longest for the yr. was 20 yds. Not with a HT candidate QB sitting on the bench who has been highly successful in big games.
Highlights the fact that HC's in the SEC don't always make successful decisions no matter who they might be.

Look at CLM's record in the toughest division in the SEC/country. Look at his record in the toughest league in the country for the past NINE yrs. Look at his record against such coaching gods as Saban & Myers.Look at his record against OOC teams (btw: he never lost to ULM). Look at the number of league championships. Look at his bowl record. Look at LSU's graduation rate under him. Most of his image as a bufoon came from his early yrs, when he was an unproven HC.Now, he is rightly recognized by his peers in college football & by the national media as being one of the best in the country. Is he amusing at times? It's a pretty safe bet that a lot of that is simply his trolling the media. Is Saban an arse at times? He's like that all the time, real life.

I sure enjoyed the heck out of his untimely faux pas. I'm sure even ol Les had to be chuckling at that decision.

Anyone who thinks CLM didn't use Michigan to gain a raise from LSU is fooling themselves. Had LSU not raised the stakes he would have left for Michigan but we offered him more than what they probably did

Yea somebody earlier brought up Les's loyalty to LSU...which I do believe now is unquestioned....but he sure as hell pulled a fast one in that situation.

How so? Because Kirk said he was gone? We don't know the specific dollar amount Michigan offered, you could assume but we know what he makes at LSU. Reports were 4 million and LSU came in at 3.75 but those aren't always accurate and more about saving face
Especially since the source is a TAF booster who isn't from Michigan.

No way a poor school like Michigan could ever match what LSU offered either time.
