I agree! Great Point

Let me take you forward to 2008, Nick Saban is in his 2ND year at Bama, is undefeated, and going to the SECCG and has a shot at the MNC.
Anyone posting or agreeing with posts like this should move to tuscaloser and give little nicky daily smokers.

Led by the great Nick Saban, we went 7-4 and lost our bowl game.
Got our arse beat by Virginia Tech, Auburn, Alabama(31-0, and Texas.
We had a bad qb.
In 2005 Oklahoma went 8-4.
Last year UF went 9-4.
Sometimes $hit happens and you have bad years. Don't be an arse because we are currently having one. Give Les a chance to make the changes required and lets see what happens next year.
LSU has tons of talent and could easily have lost 2 or 3 more games than it did. This season wasn't just "bad". It was awful.

I am not a Saban fan, but hell he is half-way there....
you have to give credit where credit is due.
even if he is a for-sale SOB

Sounds to me you need to put on some gump gear, and never come back.

I will reserve judgement until next season, but if he lays one turd, he is Bar B Q.

BS. You are skewing the stats on purpose.
Just look at regular season games, this is the worst performance by a BCS champ. period.
And in 2002 the defense was much improved. Dinardo recruited NO cornerbacks and for his first two years, Saban was stuck playing safeties at cb (see pass defense in 2001). Dinardo also didn't recruit any qbs his last year either (remember his betting the farm on getting Jason Campbell?).
So......Saban started out 2002 behind the curve, UNLIKE MILES in that he had no real qb's or talented ones. Mauck was the best he had on a lineup and Mauck sucked until the Florida game. The main reason we had a good year was..... drum roll........... DEFENSE. Yup, we had a defense that started to kick arse and rank in the top eschelons of college football. Auburn was lost because of turnovers by MR and bama whipped us, but other than that, the defense kept us in every game that year.
UNLIKE THIS YEAR when our defense was a COMPLETE JOKE!!!
You could watch our D and the rest of the team in 2002 and see similarities to Parcell's Giants team and Ditka's bears team the year before they won the Super Bowl and see that things WERE getting better and when they got another year and more depth in Saban's system, they were going to be a mother on defense, and they were.
As for Texas, well, our dumbass trainer doesn't stick IV in wrong arm on Randall, probably different story.
There is no way to compare 2002 to 2008, especially when we have had SIX DAMN YEARS of top notch recruiting, NOT ONE!!!

This is not 2002. In 2002, we had not won a MNC since 1958. We have won two MNC's since 2002. The expectations are MUCH great because of those championships.
BTW, we had a bad QB because Mauck had that foot injury in the win at UF that year. Who knows what could have happened had we not had to throw Randall in there with his dear-in-the-headlights look behind center...

MR got an IV at the half, trainer stuck his arm, his THROWING arm, and to make it worse, it was a bad stick and his arm swelled some. Saban was livid, which was justified. Marcus played like crap in the second half and that was why, couldn't really throw.

I went and checked those teams as well. Go check there scores and loses. And the momentum at the end of the season
Oklahoma 2005 8-4 lost 3 out first 5 games. Went 6 and 1 through there last 7 games. Hence Improvement.
Florida 2007 9-4 in went 1-3 in the middle of the season losing to Auburn by 3, LSU by 4, beating Kentucky, then losing to UGA by 12. Very competitive and finished the season strong 4-1, despite losing to MIch by 7 in the Cap one bowl. Emotional Last game for Carr. By the end of the season people were talking about them being a national championship contender.
If im not mistaken nobody is talking about us being a contender next year. And our team is getting worse. At least Meyer took it personal last year and placed the blame on himself, not the players.
There is something wrong here that needs to be changed. In no way am I saying Miles needs to be fired. With that said when a team gets worse as the season goes on changes need to be made. The defense is poorly coached. POINT BLANK. Changes need to be made on that side of the ball.

counting bowl games is very misleading. Regular season is more accurate.

Come on man!
He can't even change strategy from game to game when it's obvious things aren't working. You expect something different next year?
Not me.

I don't but if we see 4-5 losses next year after so many years of great recruiting and the obscene amounts of money he is given to hire the best staff possible, then it is time for a chance. He shouldn't be micromanaged and should be given full reign but there should be some changes and improvement next year.

If we keep giving chances, we ought to take to the slogan, "LSU home of the welfare tigers, where $hit coaches get unlimited chances to become Ogeron's OleMiss." For those people who keep saying next year this and next year that are pushovers. I want a coach with some nuts to take this team back to where they belong, In title contention. I am gonna get flack for this, but fire Lester the Tiger Molester so he wont keep giving it to the tigers royally minus the KY, and get Saban back who has TOTAL control of his team and able to get the team motivated. There IS NOT ALWAYS NEXT YEAR.

um, you are a year too late for that.
Posted on 11/23/08 at 1:56 pm to specs1
Yea... but Saban is winning with Mike Shula's players and a veteran QB. Let's see what happens next year.

Didn't see any positive trends on this team despite being more talented, especially on offense.
How about Brandon LaFell's emergence as a force in the receiving game?
Or Terrance Toliver coming on strong even with the extremely limited playing time he's getting?
Maybe the impact of true freshmen Patrick Petersen and Jordan Jefferson? The two biggest weaknesses of the team are at quarterback and pass defense, but despite the struggles, Petersen and Jefferson have shined -- perhaps we'll see them push for the starting job in training camp?
