If LSU pulls the trigger on a coach with (i) a few decent if not spectacular seasons with two inexperienced, sophomore QBs and a two new DCs, (ii) six straight top 15 recruiting classes, (iii) is the only Tiger coach to beat Florida, Alabama and Auburn in a single season, ever... and he’s done it twice, (iv) produced a good graduation rate, and (v) is just three years removed from winning it all, riddle me this: what top flight coach is going to step into that nightmare? What kind of bar are you setting?

Sounds like posts defending Smoke after sliding after his first two years with CWS appearances. We did alright with the hire despite that.

I'm not saying I think Les should be fired. I don't get in the fire the coach mobs.

Just don't buy the argument posed.

Dooley took a crippled Louisiana Tech team into Tiger Stadium and hung tough for four quarters. With anywhere near equal talent, Dooley runs circles around Miles that night.

And with equal or better talent than teams in his own conference he couldnt do shite....but you go ahead base your opinion off of one game. ULM beat bama....i guess that makes the HC of ULM better than Saban.

Kiffin, say what you will about his ridiculous public comments, got about every ounce of performance out of his Tennessee team that they were capable of. They played Florida just as tough as we did, and Alabama a hell of a lot tougher. Considering the dwindling talent at UT, he did pretty well. With talent like LSU had, I bet you he wouldn't have lost to Ole Miss.

I guess a couple of games makes up for a career of suckage.

athletic directors at major football schools looking for new head football coaches, DID come calling for them, with ne'er a tap on Les Miles' door.

The more you use this argument the more ignorant you look.

I'd keep Les Miles over Butch Davis any day. I don't understand the love affair with Butch Davis. What has he accomplished?

LSU has FAR superior athletes..... and FAR, and i mean FAR, inferior coaching. PERIOD! it's absolutely unbelievable how you people continue to make excuses for Miles.

What about when UAB came into Tiger Stadium and beat LSU?

You might be right, but if was a Vol fan I would not be a happy camper in the hire of a guy who never was able to do better than 5th in the WAC. It kinda rings of our Curley or Gerry moves.

The Vols basically went from Fulmer who at least had both SEC and national success to Dooley with little if and success in the WAC in a year's time.

The guy or guys making that call have to be on the hottest seat of all.

It was Sabans 1st year and the talent pool wasn't nearly as deep as with last years LSU team had in Miles 5th year.

Why do folk keep bringing up Penn State? Have you talked with some officials at PSU that have suggested that they want Saban as coach whenever Joe Pa retires or dies? Who do you know at PSU?

Jesus H fricking Christ, you still have no clue about context. You are comparing the 4th game under a new coach taking over a team that had 2 strait losing seasons and a program that had 8 of 11 losing seasons.

The La Tech game this year was off a tough loss at Bama where LSU had some key injuries, but where the program is now is not comparable to where it was in 2000. To constantly try to make analogies between the 2 is pointless.

For the 100 millionth time, ITS NOT JUST ABOUT THE RECORD its about how the team plays and looks on a week to week basis for 2 years now.

So is it your contention then the Les Miles is a better coach than Nick Saban?

That will be Nicks last coaching job. If you don't think PSU will give Saban a HUGE offer after Joe Pa retires you are fooling yourself.

Says who? Have you talked to Nick? Have you talked with folk at PSU? You have no idea if PSU wants him. They may be looking to hire from within. They may want Schiano.

Duckie, you are talking out of your arse and you don't know it.

I have never come across any information that either suggest PSU wants him or that he even wants to go to PSU. That stuff kinda matters Duckie. He might even want to retire in a few years.

Since you are so confident of these future events, certainly you would have come across some credible information that a deal in the future will happen. Explain to us in great detail about the information you've come across in your talks with PSU and Nick Saban. This will be good.

Baker said La Tech should not have been in the game because they're La Tech...i said UAB should not have WON because they're UAB. It's pretty simple. I don't care how new the coach is...UAB should never come into Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night and beat LSU.
