Given their respective schedules and OSU's loss to Iowa State I would argue with that assessment

Dude, it's freaking Oklahoma State! They SUCK!

Maybe people look at what the Tigers have been doing for the past 12 years and think going undefeated should be expected by now. It's sort of a compliment.

If Stoops had taken Oklahoma to an undefeated season, and Franklin had taken Vandy to a 1-loss SEC championship season, I'd definitely vote for Franklin over Stoops.

In the past but this team has a boatload of talent. Up until the Iowa state loss their QB was at the top of the Heisman list. Is there a better receiver in the nation than Justin Blackmon?

Gundy didn't win with a group of walk ons and rejects.

It's not so much about the quality wins and the opponents this team faced week in and week out that makes for a successful coach - but being able to keep this team focused after all the distractions (beginning with the death of his sister) that makes Miles more deserving of this award, IMO.

Losing to Iowa State is not more impressive than navigating the SEC unbeaten and taking down two other BCS conference champions along the way.

You'd be right if you were talking about LSU.

But now you're trying to put OSU at LSU's level, and I am insulted, sir, insulted.

Did Saban win it for going undefeated at Alabama? No, he won it for going 12-2 at Alabama after a 7-6 season.

I'm just saying Gundy won OSU's first B12 championship. Let him have it, it must be tough to win with that bullshite team.

Gundy getting OSU to 3 something Les never did and is bigger than Les getting LSU to 1 again.

That's pretty funny.

Do some of these awards people even watch football? Bill Snyder should have won this award unanimously. Then probably Dabo Swinney, then Gundy and then Miles.

Which program has improved the most since Gundy became Head Coach?
It's like the Heisman, there are several deserving candidates.
However, LSU has had a reputation for excellence since Saban. Oklahoma State has always been the step child in Oklahoma. I suspect that is why Gundy was recognized even though he is in a weak conference this year.

I agree.

Uh, no. Just because it isn't the SEC doesn't mean it's "weak". The B12 is rated just behind the SEC this season. It's not like he's in the Sunbelt or something.

People give Saban way too much credit. More often than not good coaches leave a program and the next coach falls on his face after a few years. Les has had plenty of chances to bring LSU down but he is the reason we are still a top-tier program. As much as I will always like Coach Saban as a person and a coach, he has no effect on the current state of LSU football.

I think Gundy is a big reason they didnt get to #2.. He made some stupid comments and didnt politic enough to get his team into the big game.

But sure reward a guy that couldnt get his team prepared to play a pitiful Iowa St team when your team has a chance to go to the NC.

Les should have been nmber one.LSU beat the #2 team and other highly rated teams. Dabo should have been #2 because he brought Clemson from nowhere to Conference Champions in short order. Gundy did a great job, but has had years to get there. How bad would Dabo have beaten IS? Dabo will be ready for the "Triple Option" next year.
