The recruiting fans can correct me if I'm wrong, but Mack Brown told Shepard that he would have to play RB/WR at UT while Miles told him he would give him a shot at the QB job as a freshman.

Shepard never threw a pass this year and has gotten in on less than 50 plays this season. He never played a legitimate down of football as a QB and sat on the bench behind two shitty QBs. For the most part, he played the very role that Mack Brown promised him at Texas. Time after time, he would get the same shitty off-tackle runs in the wildcat instead of getting something a little more creative.

Now, he is standing on the sidelines watching LSU get physically dominated in the Capital One Bowl against Penn State instead of playing in the national title game for Texas, a team he could potentiall start for or at least contribute to a lot more.

RS got hoodwinked by Miles. I've always wanted to use that word in a post.

@LSU - Compete with Jefferson and a 3 star commit in your class
@UT - Compete with McCoy and a 5 star QB in your class.

He averages 6.2 yards per carry, but I think it pisses Miles off when he refuses to go directly up the middle into the defenders. Sit his arse on the bench if he wants to do all that dumb 1st down-getting stuff.

Mac Brown told Shepard he would not play quarterback at TX. Period.

Les Miles told Shepard he would compete for QB position. That's what he and his dad wanted to hear, so he committed to LSU.

If Brown would have given him the oppurtunity' he would have gone to TX.

It is kind of strange that RS hasn't thrown even 1 pass this year. We have no idea what kind of arm he has as far as raw talent goes. All we know is that he has amazing running back skills that are not utilized presumably because he is busy competing for QB.

It is a tough situation for RS.

RS has a good arm, but has not thrown well in practice. He has a much better arm than McCluster at OM, who has thrown a TD pass this year.
