Miles did in fact win 8 games in 2008 and 2009 therefore the contract automatically extends one year.
There is nothing in there that says the contract automatically extends. it says the Chancellor will be "guided" by that criteria, not that he has to without-a-doubt automatically grant an extension for 8 wins. Furthermore the termination date of the contract is December 31, 2012. Any change to that contractual binding term will require an amendment. The Chancellor is authorized to extend the contract "subject to the terms and conditions specified herein" By item #17 of the original contract the contrat can only be amended only by a written instrument. Do you really believe that a $3.75 million contract would be allowed to "automatically extend" itself without a written, signed amendment by both parties?

if "we" go 8-4 this season, we'll find out. things could get ugly as soon as monday if we lose to florida. i'm not taking a personal shot at les or anything but the way he acts after some of his games makes me wonder if he isn't going to have a nervous breakdown. after the ole miss game last year the guy had to walk him through his post game interview, last week after we won he was "calling bullshite" against tennessee.

Look man, IF the Chancellor and President didn't SPECIFICALLY stop the roll over then it IS automatic.
Don't know how I can help you comprehend but that is the FACT.
Could there be a document that has been withheld from the public that shows that they did take such an action, yes there COULD be but it WOULD be subject to the freedom of information act and to date no such document has been produced.
So for the love of Billy Cannon if any of you have PROOF that the contract did not ROLL OVER please share it or give it a rest.

so, if miles has the same agent and takes lsu to the n.c., would an auto payraise and extension take effect?

Sad thing is from what I gathered was that he called bullshite on his own team. Gotta love a coach who won't throw his team under the bus to save his own hide.

That's the point, there is no "automatic rollover." The word automatic is found no where in the contract neither is the word "rollover."
The Chancellor and the President did specifically not grant any extensions in 2008 and 2009 because there is no amendment to extend the contract to 2013 nor 2014. The contract still expires on Dec 31, 2012. It says that in the contract.
Also check your math little daddy:
18.75 million buyout agreed to and signed in 2008:
2008 = 3.75 mil
2009 = 3.75 mil
2010 = 3.75 mil
2011 = 3.75 mil
2012 = 3.75 mil
Add all of those numbers up and it equals 18.75 mil at end of 2012. Zingo you're done. Case is closed!! Court is adjourned.

I am not really interested in getting involved in the automatic vs non automatic rollover argument.
A question for the auto rollover people. Lets say there is an auto rollover to base my question. Does this contract ever end if he wins 8 games every year?

The contract ends on Dec 31, 2012 until it is amended again, no automatic rollover

I think even if it was extended the past two years, the contract was only allowed to be extended up until 2014.
That means the extension for winning 8+ games could only happen twice. At least they did something sort of right in that contract.

If the contract was amended how do you know they didn't change 2014 to 2024 or 2034? And how do you know they didn't drop 8 wins to 4 wins? You can't assume they kept 2014 in effect if the contract was amended.

call me crazy, but I bet only a few people have any idea what the details of his contract are.
