in this case however i think our compliance office saved our arse, specifically the senior official who would not let this go.

There is no reason Les should be getting praised for this. We just got a year of probation. It's the compliance department that should be getting their props.

This is correct
He is the head of an organization, essentially a business. He knows everything that goes on in and around that program. So basically we are saying that it is of sound character and judgement to hire someone, tell them what to do, and then when some outside entity declares a wrong doing. Sell out your employee. He never took responsibility for his actions as the head coach. Our compliance department forced it on him.
Basically this situation proves his true character as a human being. And he has been found counterfeit
