re: Leonard Fournette not invited to NY for the Heisman Ceremony

For a running back to win the Heisman, he has to be on an undefeated team these days or be the front-runner for the entirety of the season. Even then, if there is a successful QB on any playoff team you are fighting an uphill battle. Someone else said it on here, the Heisman has become another QB award (which is a shame but it's true).

After the Auburn game, it was his to lose. Show up and rush for 100 on 30 carries against Bama and you're still invited. He did to Auburn what Cam Newton did to use in 2010. Cam, however and his team, stayed relevant.
Hard to believe after such an incredible start, he slipped to 2nd place at the Bama game and is now not even invited.
He should have been invited.

In the last 30 years, only Tim Brown, Desmond Howard, and Charles Woodson have won a Heisman while not playing QB/RB. The trophy is very much about face time, too...and yes, the more wins you have, the more face time. I would like to think the Heisman voters and chairpersons were pulling for LF7 due to his charisma and incredible story of his endurance of Katrina. He's definitely going to be a front-runner in 2016.

The front runner always gets knocked out... If there is even a stumble

So formula for buga next year is ok to have couple games under 100 against weak opponents and then go for 600 against ole miss ATM and arky to close season all while securing wins .make sure he runs for 25+ Tds . Return kickoffs . Throw more wheel routes to him. Couple wildcat Tds and receiving Tds . Maybe throw a td pass or 2

His yards per carry would have been much higher if he wouldn't have been on the bench in the 3rd-4th qtr in earlier games PLUS, running time and time and time again against Alabama. I was hoping Les would have put Guide in. So I think Les Didn't help him at all.

Leonard Fournette not invited to NY for the Heisman Ceremony
Anyone remember that above average linebacker that got invited to the Heisman Ceremony in New York because of his touching story? In case you forgot, here is a picture of him with his girlfriend:
Also here is a possibly NSFW picture of her:
Kevin Minter had better numbers than Manti Te'o, yet Te'o gets all this publicity and a chance to go to the NY because he had a good story. It later comes out to be a giant hoax, but it still rubs me the wrong way that he was an above average player being invited for his supposed character.
Fournette had an explosive start to the season and set the pace for every other running back in the country. He was the heavy favorite for 2/3's of the season, but gets snubbed because a guy in his own division took an extra game and a ton of carries to pass a few of his numbers. Leonard has proved this season that he is a team guy with a huge heart, and has a great (and verifiable) story of his own. Oh yeah, and he actually leads the nation in yards per game.
This further encapsulates why the Heisman is nothing more than college football's beauty pageant. Many great players were turned away from its ranks, while others were proven to be no better than a paper tiger.

Yep and it's bullshite.
The year Ingram won it he had 2 30 yards rushing games, 3 games of less than 60 yards rushing, and 5 games were he rushed for less than 100 yards.

2011 and 2015 Bama one uped LSU. It's like that rich kid in the neighborhood that already has a ton of nice things. At Christmas you get a sweet new bicycle. Well guess what, his dad bought him a dirt bike.

"The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity."
Fournette should have been invited.

Why do some years they invite 5 to NYC?? Like back with Tyran Mathieu ....
And ONLY 3 this year?
And ONLY 3 this year?

They claim that these 3 based on votes are significantly ahead of the rest of the pack.

And I think after the winner is announced Saturday night, that will be confirmed.
