re: Leonard Doesn't Need a Heisman to be an All-Time Great

He had a record setting year last year. In an inept offense.

Losing JD Moore and Dillon Gordon in a Miles type offense cannot be overstated.

the Heisman is becoming more and more meaningless every year.

Don't need the heisman curse.
Will have a better career without it

Seems like every MVP or best player award in all sports at every level is nowadays. It's all a popularity contest, and more about the team's success than the player's.

As things stand he's one of the great talents of his generation
And one of the greatest RBs in LSU history

It doesn't always go to the best player.
It's nothing more than a popularity contest these days. The last two bama players winning it proves that. The Stanford kid had better stats then last years winner and the year Ingram won it, a Stanford running back had better stats that year. The Stanford guys didn't win because they were playing at Stanford, in my opinion.
And then you have Bo Jackson saying something to the effect that as long as the Heisman stays in the state of Alabama, he would be happy. His vote was going to go to a player from that state.
Popularity contest, plain and simple.

IDK about should have - but I would say Tommy Cassanova and maybe Charles Alexander.

it would be a travesty that he leaves college without one
Not really at all, injuries are part of the game and for the record books.
He could come back for his senior year but that would be stupid on his part.
The question is the Heisman worth risk of further injury and taking a chance on his upcoming Lottery ticket to the NFL.
LF7 unless he gains 200 yards a game the rest of the season will miss out on the Heisman and his career will always be remembered and he will be the best all time running back at LSU.

but if it realistically goes to the best player in college football, then it would be a travesty that he leaves college without one
It doesn't.
