Yeah, He will end up being the leadoff guy later in the year like he was last week. PM is still just switching around the lineup to check everything out. He's trying to see who does better where. In a few weeks or a month or so, the lineup will be set.

I say it goes-
1.J.Mitchel LF
2.R.Schimpf 2B
3.B.Dean DH
4.S.Ochinko 1B
5.DJ.Lemahiu SS
6.T.Hanover 3B
7.M.Gibbs C
8.L.Landry CF
9.M.Mathock RF

Take LL out of the lineup and add CJ and I would agree.

This is somewhat off the current batting topic, but does anyone else get the sense that Leon Landry is ALWAYS looking for the highlight reel catch in center field.

Obviously he is a good defensive center fielder, but it just seems like he is always looking to make the diving play ever since he made a few late last season. There have been a couple times where he has cost us a couple bases when, rather than circling the ball and hitting the relay, he dives in an attempt to make Sportscenter Top Plays.

I like this experiment:

1 J Mitchell, lf
2 T Hanover, 3b
3 B Dean, dh
4 S O'Chinko, ib
5 R Scimpf, 2b
6 D LeMahieu, ss
7 M Gibbs, c
8 M Mahtook, rf (Chad Jones when he returns)
9 L Landry, cf (with a platoon with McGhee)

I agree with a previous poster that McGhee should have pinch hit when the lefty was brought in. He was behind every fastball that guy threw him, and lord knows he couldn't hit the offspeed stuff.

I like Leon's speed and defensive ability, but (despite the 9 homers), he's not a good hitter. Certainly not good enough to be in the leadoff spot - ever.

He's a weapon on the bases, but he needs to be on base. His OBP is under .350 and he has just six steals in 11 attempts.

I want to see Leon do well, but it's just not happening.

He is a weapon...when he can get on them and doesn't get picked off. It's just been a while since he's done it consistently. I'm struggling for memories of it as well.

he's really not THAT fast. plus he gets bad jumps.

on top of the fact he strikes out 2 out of every 3 times...its time for him to sit.

He's fast enough to get 15-20 steals a year if he could get on base with any kind of consistency. 20 steals in college is pretty decent.

But he needs to sit. His swing just looks horrendous right now. Sometimes his head is staring down the first baseman before the ball gets into the zone.

what an awful attempt at a flame. you must be 12.

so anyway back to leon's base stealing #'s.

12 of 17 last year
6 of 11 this year.

those are hardly the numbers of a "weapon".

He is a troll and most likely not an Alabama fan.
