Again, here you are shining in stupidity.

O is hiring young coaches (Brady) and older, more experienced coaches. This is what very smart people do. They find people that know things they don't know and people that see things differently in order to learn from them.

As a leader, you always want to be learning and challenging yourself to think differently. If you look at O's track record here at LSU, that's exactly what he's doing... and that's exactly what we want our head coach doing (and something Miles wouldn't even think of).

I often tell students, "If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room".

Who's even said anything bad about the head coach in here? You guys are obsessed with defending the honor of another grown man.

1-2 smart arse comments (*GASP*) and several people just curious as to what his role will be. That's all it took to get Rog and Pirate foaming at the mouth. It's truly bizarre.

John Robinson is revered in California and the West. He's a coaches' coach. His West Coast high school coaching contacts are worth 10 times anything LSU pays him.

Orgeron is all about early recruiting. Contacting the potential 5-Stars (and their parents) before the recruiting services know who they are.

Skip Bertman is 81

Robinson is 83

Who here would laugh at a college baseball coach that had Skip as a special consultant?

I have no idea of his duties or his mental acuity. But, I don't have any reason to think it is sillier than hiring Bertman.

I mean given that he’s a consultant to O specifically, he’s probably here for California recruiting purposes and to lend head coaching or motivational advice. Maybe organizational? Idk

I wonder what kind of recruiting connections he may have at this point. That would be great if so. What is motivational advice? Like advice on how to motivate players?

I don't know about that. Our Werthers Original budget is about to go through the roof.

Maybe he can tell the kids all about the depression and where he was the day Hiroshima was bombed.

Ed apparently hasn't learned that old coots don't like change and are not brimming with knowledge relevant to today's game. I said the same about Jerry Sullivan when he was hired as a consultant. But the rant was mesmerized by the new shiny toy that obviously was the best in the whole wide world. That worked out well and so will this.

You just don't get it. Guys like this have a ton of wisdom, and a ton of stories, which go a long way when you are trying to develop the character of your athletes.

Everything isn't always about the tangible, and that usually what young, immature, inexperience, or just plain ignorant people only see.

The dummies on this board are only capable of seeing the move in front of them, and not the 3 or 4 moves down the road.

Every HS coach in California will take his call.

It would be like Miles calling Rickdaddy.

Robinson is 83, is he a long-term piece of the program O is trying to build?

Goodness..... someone making sense. Anyone arguing after this post should be wiped off the map so that we can quit allowing them to add gene pool.

People getting pissy about this hire really need to take a step back and evaluate their lives.

Of course, what should I expect, they’ve started hundreds of threads about glorified gopher, derek ponamsky.

Do we know if he'll be able to participate in recruiting in this role? What would he be calling these coaches about?

People will bitch about this like they bitch about the qualifications of analysts.

He's a consultant. He won't coach practices. He won't coach games. It's likely more of a sounding board on overall management procedures, staff management, etc.

I mean... There clearly are a couple of people in here just messing around. You take this stuff way too seriously. Personally, I'm just curious what his role will be. I don't see the point in getting so defensive.
