I don't remember Alexander saying anything about Jimbo.

He didn't and no emails with any mention of Jimbo or any other coach were published. Maybe other coaches weren't discussed via email, but I would be surprised that not a single email mentioned him if something serious was going on. I would buy that inquiries may have been made, but I haven't seen anything convincing which supports "a done deal" or even an "almost done deal".

they know the emails are public. i doubt they would discuss jimbo if there's a possibility it could be in a FOIA request.

With the circus going on and knowing a public records request would result in all emails potentially published, one would think they wouldn't have emailed at all after the circus started. I would have cut that off pronto.

If there were Jimbo discussions, those would have started before a leak which ultimately culminated in the circus.

F. King Alexander and the rest of the board needs to be thrown out. LSU also needs to become a state related university like Temple, Pitt, Penn State are in Pennsylvania. They give in state students a tuition discount in exchange for a state check, but they have their own boards and the state of Pennsylvania is not involved in any decisions.

this is the most incredible statement I've ever read on this board and that's saying a lot.

this "fire everybody" sentiment about a football coach is the dumbest thing ever and would severely damage LSU as an academic institution.

and your statement about LSU not being a state related university and doesn't give in state student discouts is ignorant. guess what? LSU charges more for out of state students and out of state students are not eligible for the in state scholarship based on grades. and wow, LSU also has it's own board. I guess facts kinda get in the way sometimes.

fire everybody, fire everybody, fire everybody!!!

Wow that is the most head in the sand comment I have ever read. Learn to use google grandpa and learn something.

1. All of LSU's board members are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state senate. That makes it subject to the political winds blowing down Nicholson from the state capital.
quote:

The Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College is established by Article 8, Section 7 of the Louisiana Constitution. It is a constitutionally empowered board granted the authority and responsibility to “supervise and manage the institutions, statewide agricultural programs, and other programs administered through its system.”

The constitution provides that the membership of the board is composed of two members from each congressional district and one member from the state at large, appointed by the governor with confirmation of the Senate. Those members serve six-year terms, which are staggered. In addition, a student member is selected to serve a one-year term.
LINK

Penn State on the other hand is not. Penn State's board only has 6 trustees appointed by the governor the rest are elected by alumni, former students, and other organizations.

Penn State Charter

2. LSU is not exactly an academic powerhouse to start with #129, and #191 in 2014, and its performance has been falling since F. King Alexander arrived in 2013.
LINK
3. The LSU Faculty Senate passed a vote of no confidence in F. King Alexander because they didn't believe he could handle the budget situation, and they were right. LINK
4. LSU has had to deal with budget cuts every year since the recession started in 2008. You would think they would have had enough sense to adjust tuition to offset that. Oh yeah thats right it can't because any tuition rise above 10% is subject to legislative approval. La is just one of 2 states in the whole country that does that. The state senate tried to change that last session, but it failed in the house. Well then you would think that F. King Alexander and LSU would do something to be proactive and cut costs, raise fees (not subject to legislative approval) or try to attract more student. Online classes are the perfect way to that because they can charge higher tuition and fees, reduce the faculty costs (which is the #1 expense in LSU's budget BTW), and students love them. Arizona State now offers all of freshman year online for credit. Florida is in the process of implementing an online program that will add upto 24,000 students to the university and an additional $43million to the school. UF's online program launched after LSU's and already has twice the majors available. LINK. LINK What does LSU have? LSU Online launched over 2 years ago and just has 9 grad programs available. That is just the tip of the iceberg of how LSU has refused to embrace the future of education, and instead F. King Alexander wants the feds to mandate higher education spending like they do medicaid. Yeah that is just what states need is another budget busting federal mandate.
5. Yes, fire everybody. Miles should have been fired for the disaster that was the 2nd half of the season, Alleva should be fired for the way the whole situation was handled, and F. King Alexander should have been run out of the state after the whole LSU bankruptcy stunt he pulled in the spring. The legislature needs to pass the tuition autonomy bills, and LSU needs to transition to a system where most of the board is not political appointments, but that is not going to happen because La is determine to beat Mississippi, and Arkansas for dead last in everything.
