Lee has a stronger arm, and can develop mental aptitude.

What makes you sure he isn't another Jeff George or Aaron Brooks? Lee could have all the arm strength in the world, but that doesn't mean he will necessarily be a good QB.

When George or Brooks look and or act like this then you can compare the 2.

Why are you showing high school film?

What about showing film from yesterday's game.

App St. has a better defense than Caty High School, I'd wager.

I only saw one real possible INT by Hatch, and that went through Dickson's hands first and foremost.

The underthrown ball to Byrd in the endzone. If the WR turns around the ball falls in his hands.

That would be more than Hatch and Lee got combined.

That doesn't prove anything.

My point is that if he doesn't see a lot of significant snaps this year... there's no reason to believe he will be ready to start...

Hatch looked way better. All he needs is some more snaps and I think he will be ok to bad his arm strength is pretty poor.

i dont know what you consider poor, but he only threw one pass beyond 20 yards and it would have been a completion had byrd not goteen a cavity search on the way to the ball. lee had one good 40 yard pass to lafell in the endzone who sat put. we really havent seen one good deep touch throw from either of these qbs. i think its too early to tell. hatch's throwing motion is really compact and akward though. so i can kinda see where your coming from. the tigers will have to have a deep threat identity going into sec play. you cant designate 10-15 yards of turf to manage when you have 80 yards of it in front of you. otherwise teams will load the box and get away with it.

I guess what I'm failing to realize is how a QB who only completed 50% of his passes, short passes, is somehow better equipped to lead and manage than a guy who completed 60%... throwing the ball downfield.

you are reading stat lines, and not watching the game.

I watched every play.

Hatch looked more composed. Big deal, he's older.

How do you get there? By playing. 2, 3 games, Lee will just as comfortable.

Hatch offers LSU composure and a slight running threat.
Lee offers LSU the chance to throw downfield, an open playbook, the ability to keep defenses on their heels and not stack the hell out of the running game.

If Hatch stays Qb, we will get stacked up... and our running game will not be effective, and our offense won't be effective... and we will struggle.

"So if next year is our year, why not allow Lee (who should be the starter next year) get as many snaps as possible so that he doesn't have to go through all those growing pains again next year"

well if he is good enuff he can beat out hatch next year

He just didn't complete many, if any passes over 15 yards.

Even Saban pulled Randall and started Russell.

Not sure where you're going there.

LSUButt - Neither looked good but Lee actually could have easily had 2 or 3 int's instead of just 1. Our line is not very good at pass blocking abut it's nice to see Hatch able to tuck it and run it for a decent game instead of forcing the ball.

This coming from the guy who thought Ben Voogd was underappreciated and if given a chance would have been a great B-Ball player for LSU on the 05-06 team.

LSUButt = Bafoonary

Randall played and started numerous times, and never gained anymore composure than he did the previous year.

You don't have to throw darts downfield to get defenders off the line. The best passing play by the offense led by Lee was even a screen pass.

You don't risk the chances of a good team on the hope, regardless of how possible it is, that the worst QB right now will improve to be the better QB. You play your best player.
