Speaking of bats. There was a time around the late 90's or 2000 I remember someone saying that every team to win the cws used Easton bats. Is that still the case?

I'll just say that the C-core was the most ridiculous bat to ever be produced. There was a guy from Rummel in '96 that was drafted by the Rockies out of high school that hit a ball out of Kirsch Rooney opposite field into the cemetery behind the parking lot. Easily over 500ft.

No, not the case anymore. When Oregon State won it all they used Demarini.

Also I'm pretty sure, when Miami won it they used TPX. When Fresno State won it they used TPX also.

When they changed the bat specifications back in 1998, Easton went to shite for brief period. Easton, in my opinion, is the best.

I absolutely hated Demarinis.

Yes

And did no one else like the Z-core?

I know, just didn't fell like throwing out a name that most wouldn't recognize. He and Jeff Lambert were the two biggest high school baseball players I've ever seen. Lambert had a little help from the juice but Winchester was just a freak.

Look at you knowing all this shite !

Thanks for the info. I never really bothered to look at the bats they were using. Also, I don't think I watched any of the cws games unles the Tigers were involved.

The ZCore was an okay bat. That particular type of bat was one of the first, I'll call it....supercharged bats" produced by Easton. At the time when the Z-Core first came out it was amazing. However, every year Easton's next prototype would render it obsolete. From about 94-98 every year the Easton bats got hotter and hotter. Then in 98 the NCAA pulled the plug

I was upset when high schools did this. Huge difference between a 33/28 and a 32/29.

The big break through with the first line of REFLEX,C-Core, etc. was the extended 2 3/4" barrel. It made it to where you didn't even have to get a good swing on the ball to have it pop off the bat. The "sweet spot" was pretty much from the handle up.

Yeah, and don't forget that they reduced the circumference of the barrel from 2 3/4 to to 2 5/8.

The sound of that makes you think "what's the big deal" until you put them side by side. I put my old C-Core next to my nephew's 2009 Stealth. It's just silly really.

That's very true. Also, you have to take into consideration the fact that a home run, line drive, and a fly out are literally separated by fractions of an inch in terms of where and how the ball makes contact with the bat. When that's taken into consideration 2 3/4 to 2 5/8 is huge!

I remember that actually. I played for Holy Cross in '96 and Winchester was a freaking beast. That was also the first year they had the high school all-star game at Zephyr Field and he hit one to right that went over the pool. Jeeze, this thread is bringing back some memories.

Btw, the greatest Easton bat ever produced was the Ultra-Light with the clear cap. It had a 2 3/4" barrel and a -10 ratio. I remember they banned it from the 14yr old state tournament.

They had signs posted all over the park with the words "Big Barrel" crossed out.
