re: Lady Tigers vs TN Thursday, a very, very big game for the program (long)

wow, this is bad..real bad...but if we win I guess all is forgotten, but how a player (a very inconsistent one) on a 7-7 team that has lost 4 of 5 can talk trash about a top 10 team is beyond me...bet NC did not take kindly to this

I read your entire post, and yeah, I agree.
I think also this team needs to make a "statement" on who they are as a team.
It would certainly be a positive "statement" if the losing streak could be snapped against the Lady Vols.
You wonder with the slide whether it's a mental thing or physical. Fatigue? Or unity? trusting your coaches?
When you are winning so much is easier, it is easy to have confidence in yourself, your teammates, and your coaches.
But when you are losing, like this streak, that is when you find out who you are as a player, and that is when you find out if you trust teammates and your coaches. This is when one's character and the team's character comes out.
And coaching is crucial at this point.
When a player starts to doubt, no matter the sport, winning is a lot harder to do.
Confidence is key, even if you have to fake it initially.
So let's see if this Coach can get the players to believe in themselves, and let's see the character of this team. Tonight will tell a lot.

This game doesn't define the program any more than the January game did.

It's my fault. I left the room at 0-0, got back and it was 11-2.
ETA: And now that I'm watching it looks like the 1st time they've ever played together.

The shooting is horrific good lord...

Yet awesome for the other team

I hope Ballard's poking of the bear doesn't result in the entire team getting a piece of their arse chewed off by Tennessee tonight. She better back her words up. Granted, she torched them in the first game, but I am sure they have a little something waiting for her tonight. Should be interesting.
Yea, I just don't understand why she'd say something like this.................or why Nikki wouldn't tell them not to provide any bulletin board material.
As a result.......................
With 7:40 left in the first half.......
Tennessee 28
LSU 8
This one is basically already over.

Not just brick after brick but rushed bricks with 18 seconds left on the shot clock. Not even looking to run offense. Nobody trying to rebound.

Ballard's been on the moon this year so I doubt she listened.

Wow, Houston we have a problem....

I've just never seen a team tank like this. For them to have started the season 17-4, with a lot of good wins, and then all of a sudden lose 5 in a row, is just unexplainable...................unless there is indeed locker room turmoil. I think at this point, it's obvious that that is indeed the case. They look HORRIBLE in this game. No defense......offense looks discombobulated.........Ballard and Moncrief are non-factors.
Just baffling and frustrating.
This is the worst LSU losing streak in TWENTY YEARS!
Although it seemed inconceivable a month ago, I have a feeling we're gonna lose at Alabama on Sunday. We started the conference season at 6-2, and we're going to finish 7-9. UNBELIEVABLE!

They have become pretty much unwatchable
I agree it doesn't make any sense with the talent they have. It's like someone pushed the off button!

I would be shocked if she is back on the team next year.

Every movement by this team is in slow motion. No anticipation, no fluid movements, just Kowala bear speed.

If we have a team at all would be a shock.

Too lazy to come out and cover that 3. Just hoping they miss to make it easy.
Posted on 2/27/14 at 9:21 pm to catnip
Well, it looks like we are coming back. Now that would be a shock. Stranger things happen in sports.

It's good that we've fought back. Wish we had fought in the 1st half though.

Not a surprise. This our current pattern for the past month. Why we can't just play hard from the beginning of games is a mystery to me. Now, it may be a case of too little too late..............................when it didn't HAVE to be.
With 5:07 to go.................
LSU 57
Tennessee 59
Uh,oh.....................looks like I spoke too soon.
