Great win.. I was there and did not give us much of a chance. I did post about my conerns over where this team was a few days ago . Know it's early and I like our coach but thought 14-8 was not where we should be. I hope we can build on this very big win. An NCAA bid is a big deal for us this year IMHO. Great coaching using our size and without our best frosh.

Early???
20 games into into her LSU career and she is already getting called out...yeah, that's a tad early for a team that didn't even make the tourney last year and loss its PG this year.

Saints fan you seem to selectively interpret those who disagree with you a good bit. I went out of my way to say how I liked her but was disappointed so far after 2/3 of season and also said I liked our coach. I still think that to date we are not where we should be but today was a big win. And I also said new coaches should get at least three years so calm down. 5-5 is not where we should be in sec in women's basketball. But I am hopefull we finish strong and we get to host ncaas so big chance to get a round or two if we can get in

Thread from earlier in the week. Caldwell got pregnant meaning that she can't coach so she should be fired.

I went to this game knowing nothing...they were seriously fifth? They didn't play like it...

The stat line for this game was absolutely bizarre. LSU had 24 turnovers and only attempted 29 shots (attempted, not made). Those two stats combined are mind-boggling for a winning performance. The Lady Tigers truly scrapped this one out by wanting it more. A great defensive performance and gritty rebounding edge. However, this team must take care of the ball better to be a true tournament team.

UK is a great trapping team and we only had two ballhandlers and the one who's a guard was in serious foul trouble. They also shot a bunch of FTs in the 2nd half which accounted for most of the points and the lack of FGs. Turnovers are just going to be a part of the game with Hughes out.

All that is very true and I concur. I was aware of the injuries severely hurting our PG play and plaguing our turnover issue. UK is a good team and a trapping team, but overall, LSU does turn it over well above average for the SEC's top-half teams.

True, but Kentucky averaged forcing almost 30 turnovers a game coming into today...so they actually had an "off" game in that category.
And yes, the stats were odd...LSU attempted 31 free throws and 30 FG. Hard to shoot more FT than FG. The key was not letting KY score off of all those turnovers and making them play half court offense, which was ineffective for them.

The shortest girl on the team, Jeanne Kenney, led the team in rebounds. Scrappy is right.

And THAT was the key. Yes, LSU turned the ball over 24 times. However, UK averages 29 forced turnovers a game. So, LSU.................especially considering their plight of late (no true point guard after Hughes' injury)........did well in that area. Plus, if you notice UK didn't score a whole lot of points off the turnovers. In essence, even though LSU turned the ball over, they kept UK from running the break for easy baskets after turning it over. It was actually a masterful coaching job by Nikki and her staff. Considering how this team has played since Hughes went down, no way should LSU have even been in this game. But Nikki went with a whole new philosophy in this game and it worked.
Brilliant!
